Phone Mount

I’m curious as to where people mount their phones in the X3 (if you do)? The vents don’t lend themselves well for mounting as it places the phone in front of buttons, etc.

I won’t use adhesives and the sensatec dash is too uneven for suction cup mounting. I have an iPhone 12 so have a vent clip magsafe mount that works but as mentioned, is really in the way of the controls.

I use a similar but cheaper generic one from amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...e?ie=UTF8&th=1).

The cup holder mount location works really well in this car. Does not block anything, close to the hands and great location for a quick glance. No fiddling around. You do lose one of the cup holders.

Thanks…yeah cupholder mounts are generally less obtrusive but then takes up a cup holder slot which we use quite often.

BMW part no 84102461531

Some use it with the font USB C port using a 90-degree USB adapter to avoid using the lighter port.

In the UK RHD market, it was never chrome, which I always thought was odd, but that's BMW.

We got acoustic glass instead

That's weird and I don't understand the rationale behind categorizing this way for different regions. For example, Canadian owners get the boot close option using remote, but the US guys don't. What difference does it really make?

I've given up trying to understand. In the UK we can no longer get heated rear seats, as with the pre LCI, but we get acoustic glass and M Sport Seats.....

Maybe it's based on expected demand or the competition in a given market?????

I've used Brodit brackets plus the appropriate holder on my last 4 cars without any problems with things being obstructed.

The last 3 of mine have covered the passenger side central vent, so if you do fit one of these make sure to close the vent or your phone can get rather warm! At least it clips to the vent surround and not the part that moves.

That would probably be ideal but for the LCI models, the clip is over the vent as pictured above. Even without the phone on there it makes getting at a few of the buttons difficult. It seems like they could have designed it to be a little less obtrusive. I could probably be OK with it otherwise since I don’t always mount the phone but it’s nice when CarPlay decides to be a disagreeable SOB
I think the only solution I’ve found that I can reluctantly live with is the cup holder mount.

I was surprised that the ProClip for lci is kind of a poor design. Nothing real original there. Bummer

That looks terrible… bulky and the phone stands straight up? I actually use my cup holders on occasion as well.
