I guess as mentioned above this difference is down to Euro spec vs US.

I love my ACC by the way
UK cars have two distance buttons? Increase and decrease?

Another person confirmed this issue with a US-spec 2019 car. Maybe others will chime in with another data point as it seems unlikely that three users on three cars are all doing it wrong.

How long is the button hold time? I've held it for varying times and nothing happens.

No.

All X3 steering wheels are the same no matter if Europe or US.

We also have only one toggle button for distance in pre LCI cars.

The manual is wrong in this aspect. Even prior LCI the manual for iDrive 7 cars had 2 (+ & -) buttons listed where in reality it was a single toggle button.

LCI cars now have 2 buttons for distance control when equipped with ACC.

I believe it is around 3 seconds. But how long have you held it?

I’d hold it until it turns off?

If that still doesn’t do it. As I said earlier, try different buttons on the left in case they did move it. If all of that fails, I’d get the dealer to update your car’s I-Step to see if it is resolved in a software update.

I’m just not convinced BMW altered this functionality to weaken it only for the 2019 cars sold in the US, but elsewhere is unaffected. BMW bastardized us MY2020 X3 and 5-Series owners with “iDrive 7 Lite”, but that’s a global slap for us not a regional one.

I know it is frustrating, but we’re only suggesting testing this out so much as BMW manual, BMW geniuses, BMW corporate are often very wrong on this stuff. They seem to care very little about actually knowing how their cars work… My MY2020 G30 printed manual arrived half full of LCI information and instructions even though the LCI wasn’t released for another year in MY2021 (I took delivery in 10/2019)!

The Remote 3D View issue I described earlier… BMW resolved that with a car software update that I had to go to the dealer to get installed. They incorrectly coded the car out of the factory…

Distance increase upper left, decrease lower left (or visa Versa) on mine. That said it is retrofit to my 2019 M40i … so might be using LCI switches ?

The initial picture where you show upper left as distance looks like the lower left is the same, distance, like mine though ?

Strange. I've seen steering wheels from G01 iDrive 6 only with ACC, when also Lane assist is installed.

That leads to the single button distance toggle and a lane assist button like in this picture:

https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/attac...1&d=1642715037

When yours is retrofitted, is it actually a G01 wheel, or was lane assist not available in UK?

LCI switches are completely different. The distance + - buttons are oriented left & right besides the speed adjust trigger.

Thank you for the picture. So it seems you don't have the assistant package but the ACC as a stand alone option.

Never seen it before and I was under the impression ACC was bound to the assistant package plus.

I had it retrofitted but in the UK when I bought my X3 if I remember correctly you could spec ACC on it’s own as I only wanted that. Having had a car with lane assist and blind spot etc it drove us mad.

It was bought by the fitter I believe as a kit as I had the BMW boxes until yesterday. New lower grill with radar sensor, steering wheel switches ( replaces both sides as wired together but only different on left side) and wiring stuff.

I'm in the US and Lane Keep was an option that I specifically did NOT spec on my 2019. Lane Keep that can't keep you in your lane well, like Tesla can, is terrible! BMW's was crappy like that at the time. It reviewed as more of a "puts you back" in your lane if drifting, not something that keeps you center. If it bounces me around like a bowling ball with the gutter guards up, that ain't for me. Therefore, my US steering wheel is also like the picture. I have the RES/CNCL button on the center left, and above and below are the ACC distance buttons. I love it!

Added bonus of not getting Lane Keep- It also left off those stupid lights on the sideview mirrors that light up all the time when someone is near you. I hate those!

You mean the blind spot monitoring light?

Does it work for you, to change from ACC to regular CC? Seeing as you are from US, answer would help the OP.

Yes, those little blind spot lights. Ugly and annoying, IMO.

I'll be driving in a couple hours. If I remember, I'll test.

I held the distance button and also tried holding the activate cruise button. Both for varying amounts of time. Nothing happens from either except the expected function from one press of each button.

I will ask again about an I-Step update. The recent service receipt doesn't say what version was there or what version is there now. It says "h-u reset" and "programmed vehicle." They probably didn't do full I-Step so I'll try that too.

I tired various things, but I could not get anything other than ACC. Maybe I was doing it wrong, but I don't think it's possible.

Thanks for checking.

At least three NA/US-spec 2019 M40i vehicles are not supporting other than ACC. It seems that the next question is are these cars working as intended or is there a software glitch limiting these cars.

I will double check I-Step is up to date. Let's assume for now that doesn't fix the issue. Anyone know the best way to escalate that type of issue to BMW as it would seem to be an technical issue beyond what dealers can handle?

Edit: I don't think this is an I-Step issue. This car was delivered with S15A-18-11-545, last had S15A-19-7-555, and currently has S15A-21-11-535. Given multiple reprogramming stages over time, it seems a potential delivery glitch would have been corrected with the updates.

I also noticed that in the programming sheet at https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jbh59z7mi...tions.pdf?dl=0 there is an option to “Enable Option to disable ACC (Enables Dynamic CC). Maybe that doesn't apply to the G01 as that sheet is for other models too, but perhaps it does.
