not sure about all models but in my last one it would tilt whatever mirror the switch was on at the time - havent checked the '22 yet

You should be able to disable auto-tilt by moving the mirror switch to the other side (I never remember if it's the driver side or passenger side). I've adjusted the actual auto-tilt angle using Bimmercode.

I went from a 30d to 35d (which is a 40d engine) in a 5 GT and the most noticeable thing was the low down response as the 40d has the twin turbo being a smaller and then larger one and the 30d is a single.

It means that the initial shove was much quicker and harder than the 30d. In the 40d with MHT now in the X3 its an even bigger shove in low gears its very strong performance and then some you can rarely use it all to be honest.

The other factor is that the 40d when I was looking at new gives more standard kit that I still wanted so the cost difference ended up smaller than you think.

I'd take that with a pinch of salt? Who told you this, it's still on the configurator (although that doesn't say much ;-)

Anyone else’s CarPlay not changing to dark mode at night? It changes sometimes, but more often than not it stays bright white. Waze is almost impossible to use when it’s in light mode at night. Can’t tell if it’s a Waze problem, CarPlay problem, iPhone problem, or BMW problem. There’s a lot of players in this game

I have been using the iDrive screens and Bluetooth. I like the look of it and dont find a big benefit in CarPlay. I dont use a lot of the apps or nav, so...

But...I have used it a couple of times. I will try again and see if I notice anything. Might be a couple of days before I get to try. I did notice the other day...I was using CarPlay. Amazon Music. Driving in Sport and using shift paddles. Music ran fine. I switched to driving in Eco and using shift paddles (...I know). The music seemed to stutter whenever I shifted.

Does the problem occurs on idrive screen only or both iphone + idrive?

Make sure your phone is not under some ambient light. It might cause the phone to understand it as a daylight.

It’s only on the idrive screen. My phone is in my pocket and is in dark mode. From reading a little online it seems that CarPlay uses the state of the car’s headlights to determine whether or not to switch to dark mode on the car’s display. Makes me wonder more if it’s a BMW->Apple issue. And it’s definitely intermittent. Sometimes it works. But I noticed tonight that it’s all apps, not just Waze that haven’t switched. Very odd.

Hey guys question here! Ive been watching a lot of review videos on youtube and it seems that a lot of salesman at BMW dealerships take the vehicle out to review and even do launch control on brand new vehicles with little mileage on it. I assume they would do this on their demo vehicles but is it possible that they use a brand new vehicle meant for sale or even already sold and just arrived out for review / drive / launch control?

My salesman has a youtube channel and he has done that on a few of his new vehicles…

Definitely possible, absolutely probable, and totally unacceptable. That's a shame.

I would ask before buying, I’d maybe verify with the sales manager, and if the answers weren’t reassuring, I’d find a new sales person.

The good thing is you rarely see a BMW driving with it’s blinkers on forever! Oh wait, BMW drivers don’t even use their blinkers!

Lol, I didn’t mind not having a dipstick when I bought my 2011 328 because you could check it while driving. Now I have to be in park and wait a minute or so to see the actual level. No patience!

I had a 1983 Ford Escort 4 speed that I bought new, my first new car, and ran it for 200k. No power steering or power brakes. Near the end when I pulled the dipstick it was always filled with browny white gunk, but I retired it before it blew up!

Does anyone actually use the LIM “Speed Limiter” button on the steering wheel?

Remote actions(climate control, lock, unlock) from MyBMW app depends on what? Carrier's network or the internet speed or any other parameters?

EDIT: Just tried it limits the speed max to the set speed so that no matter how much input you give on the accelerator it won't cross that speed

A couple of questions that I dont know where to find the answer to or even how to look it up. I have a MY2022 X3 M40i.

1 - Referred to LCI, over the MY21)...what does that mean?
2 - Referred to G01...what does that mean?
3 - If I recall correctly, the engine is B58...what does that mean and how do I tell?

1. LCI = BMW Speak Life Cycle Update = model mid-life update
2. G01 = BMW model code for X3 model introduced in 2017 to date (LCI is still a GO1)
3. B58 = BMW model number for a specific engine. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_B58
