Great looking X3! I just took delivery of a new to me '18 x3 m40i in phytonic blue on the 20" wheels as well. Been following your build all along. Really like that front lip but that price is steep! may have to look into the side skirt extensions. I have them on my 335.

Just curious- any reason you didn't go for the carbon fiber side skirts? I have them on order to go along with my autoid cf parts similar to your look.

Have you got a partnumber from the G30-unit? Did you lost the galvanic buttons or were you able you replace those with the original ones?

The maxton Carbon fiber versions are terrible looking. All the carbon fiber modifications are real. There are only two companies that make real carbon fiber side skirts, 3D Design and Larte Design. I'm not a huge fan of either one. I'm almost tempted to try a set of G20 carbon fiber side diffusers.

The exact one I bought is here. https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1715111

The only issue I have, is my gesture control no longer works. I'm not sure if coding will fix it.

My X3 doesn't come with the galvanic buttons, but they can be swapped.

Installed a few more goodies from IND today.

Ordered the OEM door light projectors. Put the ///M logo's on. The OEM carbon fiber front license plate holder and IND now offers the rear wiper blade assembly painted in gloss black. Gives it a really nice touch over the dull matte black finish.

Now you have me concerned I ordered the wrong ones. Ha. What evidence do you have to conclude they look bad?

Their carbon fiber pattern looks terrible, IMO. I've seen hydro-dipped CF patterns which can fool most for being the real deal. This is an up-close imagine of the maxton front lip.

Here is some hydro-dipping work by a shop who did my engine bay covers for my Acura.

Wow! Huge difference. I had never seen the maxton up close and can see why you'd stay away from it. Thanks for the input!

I'm almost sold on that climate control but I surprisingly use gesture control quite a bit. Were you ever able to get it coded back? That's my only hang up or I would have already done this.

In regards to your door projectors, do you also have the light carpet? And if so do the projectors light up enough to over power the light carpet to still display a clear projected image. I feel this may be an issue if I feel like getting projectors. Thanks.

They are fine with the welcome lights. If you can't open the doors all the way the light is bright enough to overlay on top of the carpet light.

Gotcha! Thanks. For some reason I was thinking the carpet would be like directly displayed into where
The projector would be. For the front doors it comes out much further that I was imagining. That makes sense now. May see about getting the projectors with the new inserts

The projectors definitely overlap if the doors aren't open all the way but even then it doesn't necessarily look bad. I've enjoyed them so far.

So I had an issue with the gesture control unit. BMW replaced it under warranty. They had no explanation of why it failed.. I made an appointment with the tuning vendor to have my performance reflash tune / coding put back.

It doesn't interfere at all and looks great. I took this photo the same day I installed the projectors. [url=https://flic.kr/p/2ksHBM8]

As mentioned above, BMW replaced the gesture control under warranty. From everything I've gathered, the HVAC unit has no communication with the Gesture control.

Yes, when you press the menu button it takes you to the HVAC menu on the IDrive screen. From the quick research i've done these units will display the correct seating options (heated or heated / cooled). As for cost, I bought it on the black market here from another member and spend about $300 or so. Ebay has a few for sale.

Does your gesture control work now with the digital climate display after it was replaced by BMW?

Yes, the gesture control now work with the digital climate display. I left it in the vehicle when I brought it in for the warranty work. The technician realized it might not be the original unit but wasn't sure. When the dealer called me, I told them "that's how I bought it.." Regardless, they told me the digital climate control and the gesture control do not communicate with each other. So anyone that has gesture package and swaps in this unit, shouldn't have an issue. It was probably a strange mishap that it happened around the same time I installed the unit.

Is Autotecknic CF piece you ordered the whole unit (like the picture below) or is it like an overlay you attached over the stock boomerang?
