Ticking only after engine is warm

2005 X3 3.0l

Runs great, very quiet for about 15 minutes then a ticking sound like a bad lifter or connecting rod bearing. Seems like if it was one of those it would be ticking right from the start? Any ideas or things to check?

Hey Magicmarker55 – do you know if your car ever had its valves replaced? Apparently there's either a bulletin or a recall on a series of BMW valves. Mine were replaced twice back around 2012 - a bad batch from the factory, and then a bad replacement batch.
