G01 OEM fender flare extensions

Light aesthetic mod done today. I've noticed on parts diagrams for other countries that some G01 have rear fender flare extensions. Kind of like some of the GLC Mercedes and other SUVs on the market.

Two rivets and some 3M tape to hold them on. The 3M tape was already adhered to the trims from factory.

Nice! Any idea whether these are available for the G02 X4?

Are these were the same as on the Alpina XD3 (front and rear)? I have been trying to find out about them for a while but with no luck. Good find. Could you please tell where purchased, what they are called and part nos? Thanks

Am I the only one that doesn't like these. They seem like a cheap way for BMW to get around the law that the wheel must sit inside the "fender".

They are exactly that, I have no idea why someone would want to add these to their car if they're not required by the local regulations.

I would imagine owners would be wanting to take these off in places where they are required - might be able to snag them for free if you really wanted them...

The red car someone posted has slightly different flares. The shape is different. But on the white one it's a little hard to see because of the photo angle. I'm not exactly sure if it's the same BMW part or if it's added from Alpina. Also the flares in the front of the rear fenders and the front fenders are probably provided by Alpina too

Correct, since this is in regards to the latest G01/02 model and the forum member posted a photo of last gen F25 ALPINA XD3 - I was merely providing the current ALPINA XD3 image for context.

I originally posted picture of the red car on the X3M site to ask if anyone had information on these additions. Only reply I got was to wait for IND to start selling at some future time.
I was curious to know if they are supposed to convey some aero advantage, act as a splash guard, or both. Never considered that they might only exist to meet EU regs. If they do work as splash guards, they are more "aesthetic" than traditional mudflaps.
Plenty of commets here, but no part numbers or official name/description? No mention of them on the Alpina site.

Oh gotcha. I honestly didn't notice from that angle that the red car was an F25 and not a G01. I was so focused on the flares lol.

Ja, that was my understanding that there was a legal requirement for international countries when wide wheels are fitted that the wheels are covered with a minimum overhang.

I think it has to do with regulations. I like it personally because it's adds a little extra. I've always liked how the Mercedes GLC and some other SUVs have them. I'm sure it provides just a tiny bit extra protection for rocks getting flung up into the rear side panel because these cars usually have big tires that come to the edge of the body work.

Interesting notes on the AU XD3 photos that it has (11) and (7) flaring wheel arch extensions

I did originally notice them on the G01 XD3, but the F25 version looked the same and were easier to see on the red car. After further review, they do look slightly different. Thanks to Auricom for the schematic and XD4 pics. Looks like
same parts are used for front and rear wheels.

My 17 Porsche Macan GTS came with theses from factory. Never had any rock chips. I traded the Porsche for the X4m competition I’ve been looking for them to add them since.

Can we get some different perspectives, please? I'm only seeing close up, but not the whole look and how it ties in to the rest of the vehicle. Also, part numbers, places to purchase, and prices would be totally legit! 🙂

Number 11 on the diagram I have seen on a US X4. I actually saw it last week. I'm not sure if it would perfectly fit X3 considering the fenders may be slightly different shape.

It's difficult to get a good photo from further distance as it gets kind of lost In the black of the tire and fender well area.

PN
Flared wheel arch, rear left - 51 77 7 180 929
Flared wheel arch, rear right- 51 77 7 180 930
Also need 4X plastic fender rivets

If you order them, double check them when they arrive. Not sure if any of you may have the same issue but when I first ordered left and right and I got one which was correct (and had the 3M tape already attached to it) and I got the second part and it was exactly the same side piece as the first one but without the 3M tape attached... So not sure exactly what happened, possibly a mispick part. Dealing with my parts department and waiting 3+ weeks to get another left and right part special shipped from Germany and they're both correct now.
