Yeah you can just add the OEM box back in, buy it separate of course ~$350 plug and play, or just get a cheap amazon equivalent and stick it in.

yeah some of us got it working like 8 months ago, been using my phone as my key for a couple months now. Can not get an NFC CARD because BMW wont allow us , only digital key.

That’s amazing!! I don’t know if it’s possible bc I have an iPhone and my 23’ was shipped without digital key. I think eairler BMWs digital key was android only right?

You should have it, look in your BMW app and see if it says Digital Key, set it up, there you go. 23's all had it.

I have checked. I purchased the car this July,
Nowhere in the app, even called BMW and they said the same as you, only to tell me I actually don’t have it.

The wiring diagram is as follows on the NFC & Charging Pad side:

Pin 1 - Power (Red)
Pin 3 - K-CAN7 H (Grey/Red)
Pin 4 - K-CAN7 L (Grey/Black)
Pin 6 - Ground (Brown)

Pin 1 and 6, I'd piggyback off the cigarette lighter in the centre console.

Pin 3 and 4, I'd bring it to the BDC module in the passenger footwell to the matching wires that connect to Pin 39 and 40 in the 2nd large connector (of the 4 matching connectors) as there isn't the matching K-CAN7 lines in the console due to the deletion.

As for the centre console, I had just removed the trim by pulling where the opening was which was enough to unclip. You do have to remove the shifter so that you have room to remove the cupholder.

I told my car it had digital key before I brought it into service, I have a 2023 G20 LCI. It never showed up anywhere.

I had my headlights replaced so no idea what software they flashed.

Digital key shows in app now, unless they put hardware in, I’m not sure how it will work. I don’t have an NFC tray or wireless charger.

I guess I can retrofit the parts now and it will work?

What all do you think I need on a ‘23? I know the parts changed since it’s iPhone only.

like thestimp posted on top, you will have to retrofit the NFC pad (whether it supports wireless charging or not) as well as front passenger door handle and properly wire it to the BDC module. considering you have the "setup digital key" show up in your myBMW app, looks like you already removed "32Z" from your VO coding which is the first step.

also you have a 3er and not an X3M, im not sure what the exact part numbers you will need that'll work on your car.

Did you delete the 3z Code to get the digital key thing to show up? If you did not, your car is ready for digital key. Do you have Idrive 8? If so, you just need to pair your phone with your car and hsould be good to go, because its blue tooth ultra wide band and not NFC>

Yes I deleted 3Z before my car went into service. I do have iDrive 8.

My phone automatically paired in the car when I went to pick it up today, CarPlay and all, but the app would not let me setup digital key.

Weirdly enough, my car still throws the NFC front tray missing code. I guess they overlooked it in service bc it was not brought up.

Hmmm.. its standard with comfort access idrive8. @tim@codemybimmer might be able to answer the real questions here.

If you car did not come with it standard, I'm not too up to speed with 23-24 models because BMW likes to change shit around without informing anyone. Follow the website and see what works/what doesnt.

well yeah, you're getting the code because you are missing the NFC pad.

you will have to buy one and retrofit it to your vehicle... it will also have the be the same procedure thestimp laid out above because the vehicle will have none of the wiring laid out. on top of that you will have to install a new door handle as well since the current one you have is not compatible.
