JB4 or RaceChip
Was looking at tuning my car but as my production date is late 2020 I may have a locked ECU. I will do some investigating but I have it locked I won’t be able to keep car off the road and send ECU to FEMTO.
So next option is a piggyback. I’ve done lots of research in here about JB4 and RC and there’s content…but no one’s actual opinion / review of running one for an X3MC. I’ve watched lots of YouTube vids and it appears JB4 is more “customisable” but wanted to get peoples take on piggybacks |

Been running the RC GTS for a year so far and loving the gains. I made a thread w pics, same day before/after gains on the dyno and Dragy info if you search. No info or opinion towards JB4 as I've never ran one. You'll hear varying positive/negative opinions on both,as well as piggybacks themselves.

Both will do the job and make the same power on a stock car.
The Jb4 takes 15 minutes longer to install but comes with many features and safety failsafes. You can use them or have the Jb4 run on the default settings.

I was thinking about running mid pipe and maybe a 200 cell sports cat so wondering if jb4 would be better with these hardware mods?
Also with both piggy backs are there maps where you can run lower octane fuel in case you cannot get high octane ? The fuel station near me regularly runs out of UK 99 RON (US 93) so sometimes need to use 95 RON (US 91) |

Been running the JB4 for weeks now, no issues (aside from the annoying install).

I can't speak to the performance of either on an S58 engine, but I have the JB4 for my B58. Really love the detail that they put into installation guides and customer service from BMS. I run E30 blends sometimes and I was able to log a few runs with the JB4 app and send them in. Was e-mailing back and forth with them for about a day and was able to easily change the settings to what they recommended. They asked for a few logs and verified everything was running smoothly.
Again, can't speak to what RC offers with logs and customer service, but BMS is great to work with. I have a feeling you'd be happy with either one! Those are some big gains from just a piggyback. Cheers! |
