I also have auto start stop coded out lol...

I think the only useful features with regards to safety (outside of standard items such as ABS, traction, stability) are blind spot warning, rear traffic cross alert and rear camera... everything else really seems like more of a paying attention type of thing.
I leave pretty much all on apart from steering intervention. I’m fine with start stop as it saves me fuel/lowers emissions and is fluid in action. If I want it off I just use sport mode.

I also us driving assist pro a lot, and 360 cameras/drive recorder are really useful. I recently used reversing assist a lot due to very narrow winding lanes that have passing points. Worked really well when I needed to reverse to a passing point, whilst avoiding high hedges made up of stone/foliage.

I just don't want the car to physically maneuver in any way for me... I've seen the steering intervention and auto brake feature work really poorly in the past on numerous brands. I also don't want warning lights to be flashing every 3 minutes.

I’m fine letting the car do the heavy lifting with Driving Assistant Pro. I found it works well on long motorway journeys and in traffic jams. There’s no drama or flashing lights, and it’s easy to override at will.

I leave it all on but have some things customized. I never rely on any of the systems 100%.

Blind sport: Early
Lane guidance: Normal
Steering intervention: On
Collision intervention: Normal
Stop/Start: On

The auto brake feature on my F25 had a demented mind of its own and BMW could never find anything wrong with it. The auto brake on my 2019 m40i worked fine. On my Subarus, it was a matter of learning what triggered the system, but I didn't like having to think about yet another thing in traffic.

When I saw "reversing assist" in your post it reminded me I wanted to try it. I did today getting in and out of my driveway. I've found a new feature I really like, thx for mentioning it.

I have to admit to a high degree of paranoia when we tried it out for the first time on my wife's Q5. It works really well though. I hope to try it on mine this weekend.

It really takes the stress out of meeting a tractor coming the other way on a lane from hell.

My last question for the day before I wear out my welcome. Does anyone know when text messaging through the iDrive started to work "out of the box"? I had extended Bluetooth in my 2019 but still had to get it coded for SMS text messages to work. My CA told me that if I wanted text messaging in my 2023 I'd have to use AA or Car Play, yet today it worked fine. Strange.

I am supposed to pick up my 2023 X3 M40i in the next couple days. Purchase not lease.
The dealership wants to sell me a variety of packages, wheel & tire, maintenance, etc. Has anyone decided to purchase any of these packages, and if so, can you tell me why you think it was a good idea?

Not a good idea as the markup (except for Winter wheels) is at least 100%

Everything they present will be negotiable and generates a lot of revenue and margin for the dealership. Just ask if they can do $x and if you have quotes that can help too.

I ended up declining everything except the Ultimate Care + 5 yr/75k which I got for less than $2700. I figured if I end up with brakes and spark plugs that would be a decent deal. Oh and five years of wipers!!!!

I do hear people going for tire and wheel packages but not for $2k.

There are 3 modes with the cc. The final mode ETJA where the steering wheel turns green is an option when certain conditions are met. When those conditions are met you will be prompted to enable by pressing the little steering wheel icon. You must be in a traffic jam situation and under 40 mph. I love it. You don't have to touch the wheel but you must look forward .. Looking down or out of the windows for more than 20 seconds prompts a warning.

The assisted cruise control works much the same way in stop and go traffic but you still have to touch the wheel every so often. I use these features everyday and love the implementation. I do get nervous in sport mode because the stopping distance is abrupt for my taste.. so when I'm using the ETJA I'm always in comfort mode.

Tough on an android, although Hey Google works fine.

The thing is I don't especially care for either AA or Car Play as I'd prefer the car to do what I want w/o add-ons. It seems like this will do it out of the box which is a win for me.

It looks like I won't need much coded on this one, but I want the headlights done.

Thank you for the simple explanation. I testing out the buttons a few days ago and it was a little scary.

If Ultimate Care Schedule 60 months / 75,000 miles $1,299.00 is from BMW that's a pretty fantastic deal, considering the website shows $2,699. If it includes brakes and plugs you should go for that.

Everything else looks 3rd party and I would probably end up passing on a lot of them. I would question the ceramic paint and interior protection for $699. I wonder what they are using for that?

It's simply awesome backing out of the very narrow (German) garage!

Pretty sure this qualifies for the thread…has anyone fitted an G20 3 spoiler to a G02 X4 deck? I have a CF spoiler and the shapes look about the same.

Anyone thinks that BMW should offer the X3M colors/rev style for standard X3 (or at least the M40i). I like better the colors / tacho style, and it has a specific mode where you have the speed at the center and revs on each side which looks quite cool. They could add it through some ota update.

I was looking at some x3m videos and just wished my live cockpit could have the option to look the same.

Want to make sure I am not crazy...I called my local BMW to ask about an M40i they have coming, and in particular I wanted to ask about PAP and lumbar support. The sales rep said they would have to wait until the car gets here to confirm about the lumbar support, but it definitely would not have PAP as it hasn't been offered for any X3 models for more than 3 years now. That can't be true?

The reason I called them was I wanted to make sure their listing is not just some generic specs templates. On that note, is there a way to check the actual specs for cars that are built and in transit?
