Apparently my ears are getting sensitive in my old age. You should see the look on my face when a Harley rides down my street.

Removes exhaust, opens silencers to straighten pipework / airflow, then puts everything back together. Also does res delete if required

Backbox done today. Now sounds like my M240i with MPE.
I believe the video will be on his facebook page tomorrow.

Awesome! Care to share more on exhaust note characteristics vs. previous? Is there much difference in comfort mode, or drone at high speeds?

Still checking - weird resonance at around 2.5k rpm under moderate load, but not there at lower or higher rpms or with lighter or heavier loads.
Comfort in neutral it sounds good, and any mode above 4k rpm sounds glorious.

I find the standard exhaust is quite deep around 2.5k so it could just be an exaggeration of that? Did you remove both resonators?

And yes I'm sure it sounds lovely (as it was always meant to). Look forward to seeing / hearing the vid! Mine's in the workshop in a month

The B58 is the best sounding "non-V8" that there is.

Didn't touch the middle box - secondary cat and opf/ppf.

Just opened up the back box and modified both parts to both sides.
The 2.5k rpm noise is a bit much in the cabin so i have booked in to a local place in a couple of weeks to undo part of the mod on the non-valved side, which hopefully will make it a little quieter again in comfort mode. Leaving the valved side as it is (i.e. straight through!).

I'll report back after that, which should give you time to decide how to proceed with yours

As things stand, it's near silent on the motorway at 70mph in comfort. Can't tell from inside the car that anything has changed (i coded ASD off).
Above 4k rpm it sounds flipping fantastic. Better than my M240i with MPE.

That's great to hear really appreciate it that bud. And convenient you have a local place to tweak the mod, so you should be all set in a few weeks. For the time being, keep revs > 4kpm!

I'm away tomorrow for work (back in Spain for another week with 21 cars) so will be enjoying the noise of the 240. Will fix the X3 a couple of days after i get back.

It only controls the sound. When you are driving and you increase the peddle pressure the valve opens or if you floor it. At the stop and idle, it closes to reduce sound. Some are controlled electrically and or by vacuum. The valve is normally powered/vacuumed closed with one of the above methods. This is why both exhaust operate initially at start up and then a few seconds later the left closes after engine start and vacuum or electrical is present. You can disconnect it, it will only make a little more noise.

Removed the fuse today, took 5 mins.. worked a treat so thank you.

Car sounds so much better! Really angry now! Mine is a 2018 build so has the nice loud exhaust system before the emissions laws made them change for 2019 build...

Happy days
