Yea, Ill get the replacement ones tomorrow. But I wonder if they'll start to flake again - I have to take it to a shop and pay for the labor to do it since I don't have time at the moment.

It will be interesting to see. I was satisfied with the way Dinan addressed my issue so quickly but honestlly I was planning on changing the tips anyway. The Dinan’s are too large for my taste. I was planning on buying Akra tips and was just trying to figure out the correct size.

Do you have a midpipe? Kind of curious if this happens with a factory midpipe or if it only occurs with straight midpipes without the secondary cats and resonator.

I have the er one

But it shouldn't matter. That just deletes secondary cats
Also I have never washed the car when the exhaust was installed so can't be a chemical issue.

Also 350 miles for this problem is not a lot.

ER was on mine too.

I had not washed my former X3 either before it starting flaking. I know it was within a week of getting the exhaust and just got worse.

Someone following me at night said it looked like the X3 was spitting fire in Sport+. Not sure I believe him as that normally does not happen unless you have done full cat delete. Just wondering if the tips get hotter than with the factory mid. Maybe not.

I only drive in sport plus.
Also I don't think the midpipe matters that much. Other exhausts are doing good w midpipe.

Hey guys - I recently traded my 2020 m340i for a 2021 X3M. I had Dinnan exhaust on m340i and it sounded amazing, specially with all those famous pops and bangs on that model year.
Now I’m wondering how it would sound on this car, given the exhaust over run tune is no longer available by BMW for 2021+ models

I replaced the tips. The new tips are different construction and different welds. The previous tips were horrible corroded once off the car.

As I recall I made one trip to PA from SC with those tips. I don’t think there were more than 1500 miles on the original tips.

I hope the new tips fare better than the originals.

Did you have to drop the exhaust or pull the rear bumper lower valence off to get to them?

Just curious - how do you find the volume level of the stock muffler/ER midpipe vs dinan muffler/ER midpipe? I've heard the dinan makes it a "deeper" sound but looking for opinions on the actual volume level.

It sound really good w ER midpipe. There's a little drone though at low rpm.

UPDATE

Returning after ~2 months with the new tips.

No flaking issues whatsoever. New tips still look dark black and the coating appears and feels higher quality than the old tips. Overall, very pleased with the way Dinan handled the situation.

I have ER and am debating between the Dinan or a Comp muffler, Dinan has a sale now so maybe i'll do that... glad yours is resolved.
