AC fan jingling noise
Hi. I have a 2017 X3 F25. When I turn my AC fan on and set it to the mid speed range I hear a strange jingling or very light rattle coming from somewhere behind the glove box. At super low fan speeds I don't hear it, and at the highest fan speed I don't hear it. I also notice that I can make it jingle if I slow the car; I'm guessing the braking force does something to the fan or shroud by shifting its position or something. It's drive me crazy. It doesn't sound like the noise other BMW owners have expressed which is similar to a playing card hitting spokes on a bike wheel. This noise I'm describing sounds like some tinny sheet metal jiggling.
How can I get in to see the fan? Where is it and how is it accessed? Also has anyone else had this problem? Thank you. |

Try looking through the cabin filter housing and clearing it out with compressed air or vacuum?
Maybe leaves made their way in the way of the fan. I had a similar issue with my other car and found a bunch of leaves in the cabin air filter housing. I think there's a housing under the hood on the passenger side and another housing around the glove compartment? |

Hi,
I checked the airbox under the hood where the AC air filters go, and it was clean as a whistle. I even stuck my hand into the incoming air port as far as it would go to see if anything was in there. Nothing. So I'm back to trying to access the fan. Where is it and how do I take things apart to access it? Thank you. |
