Dropped my M40i off to have the engine coolant topped off and the oil changed. Snapped a pic of the Toronto Red X3MC they had up front.

Had the car 72 hours, rear-ended at a stoplight.

Luckily damage was minor. I was able to compound and polish the area to reduce the appearance of rub marks and deeper scratches, but there's still an indentation and crease in the plastic and a gouge in my exhaust tip.

Let's see what kind of fight the offending driver's insurance puts up.

I had mine for a week and the same thing happened. I was able to buff out the horizontal scratches but the vertical were a little to deep. You would never really know it was damaged. I work with paint so I see everything. The BMW Certified Collision center replaced the bumper because BMW doesn't allow the bumper to be resprayed. It was around $2000.

I appreciate the response!

Just got an estimate yesterday for $1900. Adjuster is taking a look at it on Tuesday...I'm ready to fight. Still so mad.

Huge bummer. Feel your pain. Had the same experience. Got hit with 30 miles on my car (rear ended) after waiting 5 weeks for the car AND ordering this car after my S4 was totalled. They had to replace the rear bumper and valance. Was around $2500. Looks perfect now, but always puts a blemish on having a new car. First damage hurts. It'l be perfect again and no one will no it ever happened.

This may be the single greatest thing I've ever seen on any car. Ray Donovan needs this.

Snapped a pic tonight when picking up my M40i after having black grilles, boomerangs, side vents, and mirror caps installed, along with tinting the two front windows. The cerium parts are nice, but coming from an EBII 435i and 335i (went from two to four doors to accommodate having a kiddo) with black grilles, this just feels more like home.

What's this about replacing it rather than painting? They're painting mine, I'd rather have a new one...

The BMW Certified Collision Center told me that BMW doesn't allow repainting of bumpers because of all the sensors. The non BMW certified body shop was going to paint it. Liberty Mutual recommended going with a Certified Collision Center because all repairs are done with OEM BMW parts and guaranteed.

With another car I was told that there are pieces on the bumpers inside that intentionally break to lessen any impact. These break first even on low speed collisions, therefore they are not allowed to repaint. Might be similar on a BMW?
