Now w/ pics Experience with BAD batch of RAM audio modules

My X3M build date, with HK audio, is Feb 14, 2021 - the audio is terrible, no matter the EQ settings or audio source. The bass is non-existent, yet the two 8" under-seat subs sort of play something, sheepishly (not completely off).

According to the RAM module 'problem' BMW admitted to when they replaced the bad units, this all happened before my build date, so mine should be "ok." It's not.

For those that had the problem, did your under-seat subs play 'something' or was the RAM module completely off?

I'm wondering if BMW should have included later build dates into the replacement scheme...

Afterthought: after posting this, I went to take pics of the RAM module and HK 'main unit' that sit in the driver's side rear hatch area compartment...what I found is disturbing. My build date is Valentine's Day, 2021, and yet the RAM module is dated 4/21...not possible. Other than the 1,200-mile service, BMW has not had my vehicle and I was watching the tech do my 1,200-mile service. He didn't touch that area, nor is any such mention of RAM replacement anywhere on the service sheets.

AB8 02 is actually the latest version and index of the part, as explicitly stated in an Advanced Information document for the RAM bass issues where bass would drop out. Perhaps it is just faulty in itself if you do actually have 0 bass.

It's not zero bass, it's more like 20% bass.

What's troubling is that the RAM module sticker is dated 4/21 and I picked up the vehicle, brand new from the dealer, on 3/2/2021 (build date 2/12/21). Unless some benevolent BMW techs broke into my garage and performed a RAM swap...

Maybe you're reading it incorrectly. What if it's week 4 of 2021? You're assuming it's month 04 of 2021. The Germans do tons of weird things. Dates are usually day/month/year. In this instance, it's slightly unusual to just have a X/XXXX date stamp and not an 04/2021 or something similar with day and month. Obviously you can't produce a part that was made after your vehicle was delivered, so this makes the most sense.

I would have the dealer compare to another vehicle. Get a foreman involved. Get the TSE involved. If you have compared to another vehicle and feel it is truly not similar at all to another similar vehicle with the same sound system, then try and have them compare to another vehicle to get an idea. If you just say "car has very little bass" all you're going to get is a tech hopping in and listening to the radio for a few minutes and saying "sounds good to me boss". Need to compare it to other vehicles.

hk audio in general in my mind is not very bass prone... its much deeper in the highs from my experience.

The mids and bass kind of suck... so i cant imagine how bad this would be.

I do feel much better reading this. Thank you. It was the first time I thought of BMW as a blatant fraud of sorts. The fourth week would let them still build it by the end of the 6th week (build date 2/14/2021).

I'm still on the quest to make the sound system better.
