This file was signed by me and the sales manager! He guaranteed he make the right calls and it would be done! That was my major concern!

Sounds like your sales manager may just be willing to (or have to if you have refusal rights) replace the wheel when you get it with the one from an X3 M40i or something.

When you order the car you should get a printout with all of the option codes etc selected for it, since the M Sport Steering wheel isn't an option in the order guide it will show the sports steering wheel. Unless you get that doc showing the M wheel I wouldn't believe it.

If you don't mind though ask for that print out, if it actually shows the M steering wheel I'll show that to my dealer. Though I think it's too late for me.

I asked and they do not have a order build that states M steering but has promised me in writing signed it will have it. They put in a proity order for my car. If it ends up coming in without it I already told him it would be a deal breaker. So either way I will be fine, but again was told my sales manager and GM it is taken care of for my vehicle. So 4 weeks and we will know! I will post the results 🙏🏻

I'm going to be the negative Nancy and say your dealer is Lying.

But we will know for sure in a few weeks.

Ask your dealer for a vehicle inquiry report and see If it shows the steering wheel that you want.

Did your X4 M40i come with the M-Sport wheel? My dealer is working on trying to get me that wheel and I’m wondering how you made out?

Might be late on this response. Wife and I picked up X3 M40i and X5 50i and both have the M sport wheel. Both 2019's if I remember correctly dealer told me they arrived in Jan.

Team, I just purchased a new 2019 X3 M40i. It did not come with a heated steering wheel but it was an option...I have been searching forums and internet but coming out blank. Has anyone done or know where is the information for a retro fit of heated steering wheel?

My 2020 X4 m40i has 710 listed although since configurator isn't updated it shows this wheel....

BMW's 2020 X4 Order Guide shows the Sport Leather Steering Wheel (255) as standard on the 30i. It shows the M Steering Wheel (710) as standard on the M40i and included in the 30i's optional M Sport Package 2.

I'm wondering whether your build sheet simply doesn't indicate which steering wheel you're getting. Is either 255 or 710 listed?

It is not. 710 is the steering wheel that you - and all of us - want. It is shown in the second pic in post #3 of this thread (go to page 1).

BMW has a history of not including the M Steering Wheel in the first year of production in the US market for some weird reason. The US X3 didn't get it in MY18, its first year of production, but it became available in MY19. The US X4 didn't get it in MY19, its first year of production, but it appears to be available in MY20. Fwiw, Canada and the ROW got in all years. Very odd.

The photo was taken from another forum poster who had custom stitched a leather cover on his 255 wheel as a solution to get a thicker wheel more like the 710.

That's not a good look. He could have done better getting a steering wheel cover from Pep Boys.

I thought the process was pretty cool to watch, ambitious to learn hand leather stitching. It turned out nice, the one part that might use some work is the red stitching, I might have centered the seam up top.

My 2018 M40i doesn't have the M sign, how much would it cost to get it replaced?

Its a heated steering wheel.
