day 3 of my M40i ownership. just discover something, which is lack of power outlet.

I looked at many car/SUV before decided in M40i. most have many outlet front and back.
I actually didn't pay attention on this when I look at the M40i.

now I notice there is only 1 outlet in front center console, and one in the boot.
nothing in Grove box, Nothing inside center arm rest compartment. nothing for 2nd row.
come on. it is 2019.

how much more cost can it be for an additional outlet.

To have the socket for back seat you need the extended storage option, and to get the USB under armrest you need enhanced Bluetooth with wireless charging option.

I don't know about Canada, but US has no extended storage option. My M40 has a rear 12v outlet below the air vents near the floor on the rear of the center console.

Agreed that there should be more outlets. People have more devices now, not less. It's a bit ridiculous that we have to DIY additional outlets via fusebox jumpers on a car in this price range.

Canada here; MY19. I have the following in my vehicle:

1. In the front cupholder area
2. Rear console
3. Boot/trunk

And, I THINK if you ordered the smoker's package, there's supposed to be one in the passenger footwell under the glovebox

The one I am missing is the "rear console" one. Which package do you have?

Exactly what I am thinking.
For car in this price range, they can't even give me a outlet near back seat?

Nope, there is no option for G01 that adds a power outlet in the passenger footwell, unfortunately.

I've never had a vehicle with a power outlet. It's not something I would naturally "expect" in a car of any price point; but if it were that important, I'd make sure it was included before purchasing.
Who knows, there may be an easy and inexpensive was to add one.

My m-sport came with 1x USB next to cupholders, 1x 12v cigarette lighter next to cupholders, 1x USB in center storage compartment, 1x12v cigarette lighter in the rear center console under air-conditioning vents and 1x12v in the trunk.
But I also have the inductive / wireless charging in front.
So I have 6 power supplies in total.
That's definitely more than I need for a family of four:-)

You know we're talking about 12v "cigarette lighter" power outlets, right?

Back to the topic, I thought that what was included in the extended storage option was standard in NA for an M40, so I'm surprised that the OP doesn't have the rear console one. Even with that, what I really miss is the passenger footwell outlet that I've had in every BMW I've had, as far as I can remember.

The one I miss the most is the back console one.

USUALLY SUV have more power outlet than sedan, but in this case, G01 even have less compare to my base E90 (Which is over 13 years old).

This bugs me. I had figured that since most other vehicles just include it that it would be there. Never was the wiser. I bought a converter on Amazon for $20.

Does anyone know if the lighter sockets in rear console and cargo area power off when car is off and not in standby mode? Have a thermoelectric cooler that I want to use on a road trip and wondering if I have to unplug it when stopped. I can figure this out, but thought someone might know for sure either way. Thanks!

I am hoping BMW will do the same set up as the new 3 Series and add the two USB C in the rear.

I'd prefer they keep 12v ports because then I can do whatever I want with them. Not every device that you'd put in a car runs on 5v USB.

I think somebody already reported them to power off after about 7 minutes, of not earlier.
