They have preset stages. If your not looking for anything crazy just do stage 2.

Although it's not on an F97 X3 M, I've tried all the XHP Stage #1-3 on my E90 335i. And after thoroughly testing all of them, the Stage 2 seems to be the sweet spot. Stage 3 is pretty harsh & trying to make the automatic shift like a DCT is never going to happen. Just my .02 cents.

The 8HP and XPH is far superior to the 6HP, even with a Supthin custom tune. You would be shocked at the shift speed, especially stage 3. I have been rocking stage 3 for 20k miles now. Super smooth, until you go sport+++ with trans in 3 which is race mode

The newest version of the stage 3 for our cars is pretty refined.

I know it is & was just using what limited experience I have with XHP so far be known. I know they are much different units & the 8 speed ZF is much more advanced then the 6 speed ZF unit in one of my other cars. I will have to try it out soon on my X3 MC.

I have no doubt. My X3 MC still has less than 3k miles on it. So I haven't even been able to use launch control on it yet. Owner's manual says at 3,100 miles you can begin using it. If my X3 MC wasn't such a garage queen & actually had a few more miles on it then I would consider this.

What exactly did they change? I’m looking to get it and flash probably st2 for daily. I’m stock without mods. Just looking for some improvements in shifting and nothing crazy. The only thing I might do is JB4 st1. That’s it.
So don’t want to disappoint myself if it will be jerky time to time and provide only barely visible change to shifting.
Also does anyone heard if dealer can see if the xhp was flashed on our cars? I’m under warranty still and just curious to know for future reference if anything will pop up.

I've been running stg 3 and it's fine. The shifts are a little harsh in sport +, but that's to be expected.
