BMW picks up the warranty bill on the ultra rare N20 timing chain failure, so thanks BMW for having my back.

FWIW, I don't own an X3 - my beautiful wife does. She rarely lets me drive it and she absolutely forbade me putting in a tune and taking it to the track. So I guess if I'm ever in Florida with my car and we bump into each other we can have a go at it. My car has a tune. Here's one of the pulls. I'm easily recognized. I'm the one behind the camera:

If you avoid the crowd of people you may have a snowball's chance in hell at putting a gap on Riick's X3 LMAO!

In all seriousness that bad boy sounds mean AF! Wanna do a reverse roll race some time?

Sound compliments of 17psi MAP, Kooks headers, no cats, Magnaflow resonators before the axle, Magnaflow Magnapacks after, and Ford Racing supercharger gear whine.

There's millions of N20's on the road, it's BMW's most popular engine sold in virtually every model BMW offered. They're the most reliable engine BMW has ever produced.

In fact, on the 1st page of this forum, every single engine related issue is N55. There are no posts about engine related problems with an N20 in weeks but there's an N55 related engine issue post daily. But okay let's keep lying to ourselves.
The word "tuned" does not indicate a higher tune level, it is a another word for modded. Whether you added 1 psi or 10 psi, your car has some sort of aftermarket tuner product on it. I also had a PNP "boost controller" on my Audi S4 and won a lot of races because of it, just because if gave me 5 extra psi (I was even able to use E85 with it). So again you are comparing apples to oranges. Even a lighter set of wheels and tires can give a slight advantage in a race where it matters, otherwise lighter wheels wouldn't be a thing.

You are pulling numbers from thin air, just because a front page of bimmerpost forum has a few N55 issues does not mean anything. In fact, it means that BMW probably sold more N55 engine x3 models and thus there is a lot more people out there beating on them. And I'd rather change the water-pump twice than a chain failure once. Plus only girls drive N20 BMWs hence why non of them are on here modding

If this was a 328i and not an X3, I'd be running 13.8s.
With a 95mph trap speed, I don't think you'll hit 13s. It's amazing you hit 14.6 - that must have been a hell of a launch.

I guess millions of BMW owners all over the world driving N20 powered 1, 2, 3, 5, X series cars are all female and absolutely no males what so ever.

I don’t think so, but I think women drive crossover SUVs - and by that measure, all these guys in here bragging are on the same level in my book.

I sold my 3 series specifically for an X3 because I tow every weekend and needed 3500lb capacity and AWD for slippery boat ramps.

I would venture to say that 99% of x3 owners don't do any kind of "utility" with their X3 other than being a soccer mom.

Wait... If you bought your X3 just to tow why did you buy the lowest AWD model? If you were going to tow wouldn't you want more torque, power, and a timing chain that wouldn't eject its self spontaneously? yes.

haha, this is funny, on an other forum, there was exactly the same discussion last week.

-The thread title was '' Female driver SUV choice?''.
-A member answer back : '' what the hek this title makes the choice any different ''?
- Huge offtopic, with some inappropriate comments, but at the end, ''white, base, automashit, 4cyl with gps''
- The member bought a white X1 to his wife.

I thought in 2018 those kind of discussion were inappropriate ? lol

I'm pretty sure I can still run 14's towing my SxS. Averages 16mpg @ 65mph pulling it as well. Total trailer weight is around 2800lb I don't even know it's there accelerating or turning, but it doesn't stop for shit. Will need to add trailer brakes.

There's maybe 1000 cases of the N20 timing chain breaking worldwide. Out of the millions of N20's on the road? What's that? 0.01% of vehicles affected? I sleep good at night.

While I applaud the use of your X3, driving on a high way with a SxS behind you is not exactly comparable to a slippery up hill boat ramp. In the latter situation, you'd definitely notice and need that extra power and torque of an N55!

N20 = 245hp 258lb torque. N55 = 302hp 295lb torque. 50hp and 37lb torque is BARELY noticable by even the most experienced drivers. A $200 JB+ brings the N20 to 260hp and 303lb torque. So explain to me what torque I am missing because I make more than a stock 35i with $200 part that took 3 minutes to install. The more amazing part is... A X3 28i is on average about $4000 cheaper than a 35i. So for $200 you can have more torque than a 35i for towing and put the $3800 in your savings account. I'll let you in on a secret, I knew that before I purchased my X3 that's why I got the N20.

Yes I notice the AWD helps a ton on slippery boat ramps. The instant torque bias to the front axle as saved my ass more than once.

Where are you getting your HP/TQ numbers? Dynotune?

And FWIW, my race gas tune gives me 50 more rear wheel HP. It is quite noticeable.

You got your numbers from the Burger Motorsports website, which shows the 328i N20 vehicle base numbers at 270 lbs of torque and with JB+ at 303 lbs, which adds 33 lbs of torque, so that plus your stock torque you are at 291 lbs of torque, so stop saying you make more than stock N55. Based on your point, you wasted $200 on JB+ for barely noticeable 33 lbs. I would gladly pay extra $4k for the N55 car.

Wasted $200? What do you run? As it stands I'm the top 3 fastest F25 in this forum with any engine and the 11th fastest N20 powered vehicle on this whole website, against all chassis.

What can you say about your X3 other than it's got chinese knock off rims?
