AFE pro dry drop in filter *installed* N55

Found that I took a few pics and deciding to share to others what I believe is the best intake upgrade for this N55 style intake system. OEM airbox with the AFE prodry filter.

To Install simply remove the six factory T-25 screws on top of the airbox, loosen the flat head screw clamp at the upper tube and pull out. Install is opposite.

Part #: AFE-3110197

I bought a fancy shmancy AFE air intake for my 335i. It was, and is, probably the coolest looking air intake I'd ever seen. Cost a lot too. My butt dyno said there was noticeable performance improvement. Multiple time slips at the drag strip said otherwise.

Garage List
I've had that exact filter in the box by my desk since January. My plan is to install it when I flash to Bootmod3. I'm hoping to do that this week finally.

I have the same question.

So far m n55 engines do not sound well at all, sound like a cheap rattle like porsche boxer engines.
First I tought it was from the stock bm intake/exhasut, but after watching some x3, m235, m2, 335 videos, not impressed at all.

This is why I wont put a exhasut on the x3, it will just annoy my neighbour.

n54 , 2jz, vr6, vq35de are crazy sounding 6s.

To each his own but I believe the Boxer 6 cylinders in the 911s, especially GT3s are by far the best sounding 6 cylinders out there.

at high RPM yes. I saw a lot of super car here, and a gt3 start from a red light, its not what i expect for a performance engine sound.

most people got the halo effect of porsche, but eye closed, with a objective judgement, its discussable...

at the end, its a preference.

VQ37 in the 370Z, is one of my favorite. Manual tramission make also a huge difference, compression can do nice notes.

Have you see Adam LZ channel with his 335 n54 big turbo ? sounds mean as hell.

Thanks FSociety for your dyno results. ☝️

Didn’t notice sound changes, had bms last year all it did was make extra swoosh sounds (turbo spool) if your into that. Butt dyno says AFE drop in yields better performance.
