ER Mid-pipe and adding race cats - how loud will it get?
Hi All,
After roll racing last weekend and seeing a GTR and Caddy CTS in my rear view mirror, it is time to up the HP gains with BM3 (I have JB4) and go for bigger fish! I already have the ER mid-pipe and wanting to add their high flow cats. Just trying to understand how much louder this set up will be. Trying to stay neighborhood friendly... |

I recently install AA downpipe with cat along with the same ER mid pipe install prior. With the downpipe install the cold start is about 30-40% louder. But should have no problem if you drive off right away early morning since in efficient mode the car is not loud at all.

the only issue would be cold start, after that it'll sound amazing.
ER is louder than AA

Dumb question but the secondary cats don’t have O2 sensors correct? I just don’t want to have to have it tuned. From the pics it does look it. Probably should have asked prior

Correct, only the primary cats, located in the downpipes have O2 sensors

There is not even any kind of inspection or emission testing in my state so not a problem. I have no plans to move to CA.

We have so many car, those camera won't be able to pinpoint which car out of the many that have loud muffler. And I bet you, most of the time, the straight piped ecoboost Mustang will get it first.

Disappointing day today. Went to a shop I’ve used before and they did not feel confident to do the install. We held it up and he thought it looked off. Cheers to them for knowing they were over their heads. At least they were honest and would not charge for shop time. I found a shop that specializes in noting but custom exhausts. I also want him to weld rather than using the clamps. They also weld with stainless rod so no worries about the welds rusting. I just need to leave it what can you do. Another few long days. I’ll get the before shorts done this weekend.
Pipe was packed carefully and seems to be in perfect condition. |

Got the mid pipe installed today. Decided to have it welded vs using the clamps. I’m very happy with the results. No drone when in Efficient but livable in other modes. Burbles and pops sound amazing.
