Transfer Box

Hi Everyone

We bought our 2017 F25 X3 20d M Sport just over a year ago (just out of warranty)

Anyway, shortly after taking delivery i noticed a slight shudder on fair acceleration on smooth surfaces. Around 25-30 mph.

I took the car to my local BMW dealer, and long story short had the drivetrain checked. They said there were no issues with the diffs, i am not sure whether or not they checked the transfer box.

I have been looking through a lot of forums particulary in search for the best option for my next set of tires, but i have noticed that a few have mentioned a similar sounding "Shudder" on acceleration and i wonder if i would be able to take this up again with BMW.

I mentioned that it went in for the same issue around a year ago, and now i wonder if they would honor a repair now, with it being out of warrant, if the initial issue was raised while still within warranty??

Has anyone had any joy with having a repair done that was raised while under warranty, after the warranty has finished?

Thanks

Before considering a malfunction, I would change the oil both in the automatic gearbox and transfer box. (make sure they reset the adaptations afterwards)

You might want to visit the diesel subforums for your F25.

There is a lengthy thread on the subject, hopefully it sheds some light on your potential issue: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1579087

Had similar rough operation and had started shopping for replacement transfer case but figured a fluid change was cheap enough. New fluid and it was good as new again.

+1 on replacing transfer case fluid, differential fluids, and transmission fluids. Then reset adaptations on transfer case and transmission. See if that fixes anything.

All 4 tires same size/brand? If they aren't, that can cause an issue but i would definitely do the fluids first especially if they have never been done before.
