I doubt it, it’s a very very stout motor as you are well aware. Coming back to the BMW world since your MB can’t compete with similar mods 😛

But also JB has ran 10.8’s at 4000+ DA and I haven’t heard problems on that plug and play tune.

25% increase in power is pretty much the unofficial safe limit for BMW M cars. nothing’s blowing up. at STG 1, the increases are reasonable.

if one wanted to run a tune thats more aggressive, bolt-ons would be necessary (STG2 which PTF recommends for all of their OTS maps anyway).

im just glad to see that PTF has already started development on the S58. ive been a fan of theirs since the N54 Cobb days (custom map with Dzenan) and had great experience with their OTS offerings with the S55.

+1
My cousin had 60k miles on OTS S55 Stg2 E30 😂😂 in 2yrs & I also had about 10k miles on Stg2 E30 then 15k on Custom E85. Ever since Bootmod3 has made BMW owners enjoy their car like it should of came from factory I say

I think that happened because of low fuel, I've seen it before in other current Gx series cars but its hit or miss. Best to ask them on that IG post i didn't notice it until now.

LOL...I always thought you would be the first one to blow up the M40. Mine seemed a little "hurt" when I traded it in. All the sudden, it was a lot slower than it used to be. Maybe too much boost and E85 tuning?

Na, car just kept getting stronger lol! I actually got hit by a guy who ran a red light so I now need a new car 😱

Regarding your being slow, was prob due to that JB you had on 😛

I ran a 3.88 0-60 with the same combo but all the sudden, it was way slower so I dumped it at a good time plus it wasn't a great match for me.

What are you getting now? I would have a hard time passing on the AWD M3 when it comes out or is it our now?

The G80 is going to be crazy fast just by weighing a lot less; I can't wait. To bad the grill looks like crap!

And with that, the S55 is as predicted a forgotten motor.

Exactly. The dyno graphs show that the torque below 3,000-3,500 is not improved at all, and the higher peak makes the power delivery less smooth. So may be a benefit for the drag strip, but does not seem helpful for daily driver use.

Might not weigh less but the AWD will make up for it.
Hook & Go
So you don't think the G80 will weigh less than the X3m?

There is ~1000 lb curb weight difference between the F80/82 and the F97/98. If the G80 gains half a ton over its predecessor, the M division should fold up shop.
