Supposedly, the A connector can be accessed from driver side's axle cover.

Let me give it a try and let you guys know.

Let's hope that I have plenty of time to demonstrate it tomorrow.
And I will make a documentation if from driver side axle opening will give you a better access.

You can always use the bypass plug.

Oh, and as of beginning of November 2019, RaceChip GTS and GTS Black covers engine warranty for US market.

Details are coming soon.

But roughly it is only apply on new RaceChip purchase on new car. 4 years / 50k miles if I remember correctly. Still waiting on the details to be emailed to me.

The warranty is limited to €10k...and some very specific criteria has to be met in order to qualify

Of course there are specific criteria, same as Dinan.
Warranty doesn't carry over to new ownership and there are steps to follow.

I have yet to find out the details. Not sure if it limited to €10k like what they offer in European market.

People asked for it, now they offer it.

I had several Dinan installations. Their criteria wasn't as stringent

I have used all 3. Two JB4’s . Still have BM3. Just bought my 4th RaceChip. TOTALLY depends on your goals. All three work well.

If you want to blow your warranty. BM3 will be detectable period. Does work well if you know what you are doing or use someone that does. You can push the limits to mechanical failure. But you can make great power.

JB4 and RC are MUCH less detectable, but detection can be inferred through nominal limits.

JB4 has a great logger and will let you take the boost as high as you want to take the boost. Great unit if you want to “tinker”.

RC is an extremely high quality unit. The maximum boost is based on pump gas with a few fine tuning levels built in if you can not buy 93 octane. You can turn it down for 91, etc.

RC is an awesome plug and play for a nice , safe power boost . If you do not want to log, add octane booster, methanol injection, etc. it will work very well.

There is no best.

The install of the Racechip is depressing... not like the installation of the JB4 in the B58 which takes 5-10 mins

It is not because of the product.
It is because of the engine layout.

I wish it was as easy as B58. Thanks to BMW to put the airbox on top of the engine and MAP sensor all the way to the bottom.

The truth, it is not as bad as mercedes benz where you have to be double jointed to access the sensors, lol.

It certainly is a bit more difficult, but their install video was top notch. I thought the strut bar had to be tightened to a certain torque which they didn't mention. I'm no mechanic myself, although I did just install my own stealth hitch, but it looks pretty straight forward. I'd seriously consider a race chip if I were staying in Italy. Actually, no, I'd definitely get one if I weren't headed back to the States. The temptation to go full on hooligan is already tempting enough as it is. I had a skyline in front of me at the light tonight revving it high for a group of young Italians in some POS euro econobox alongside them cheering him on. That's considered a sexy car over here. I just laughed at the scene and passed around him after the light turned green. This X3MC is a serious sleeper, and the S58 is truly incredible.

I don't doubt I can do it, I've changed steering wheels, flappy paddles etc with no issues. It's just a long process and when I need the car to go back into stock it takes minutes with just a 10mm socket wrench.

I'm not ruling it out but I need to think about it.

Just watched the vid. Holy cow. I've done myriad things to my vehicles over the years, including some electrical wiring, but this...this isn't for me. WAY too much effort. I'll wait for Dinan's flash...

You can always leave the harness and use the bypass plug whenever you need to go to the dealership.

With that, it will put your car back into stock.

True, but the unit will still be in the engine bay for the tech to see. Some dealers would flag the car even if the bypass was connected (if still under warranty). In any event, looks interesting, just not for me.

No unit.
Just harness.
You can remove the module box itself and put it away.

Some dealer will even flag your car for having Brembo big brake kit or aftermarket wheels.

Ok, no unit, just the harness. It'll still alert the dealer who doesn't support tunes. In any event, best of luck with these. Impressive #'s for reasonable cost

Video makes it look easy but trust me it is not. However can be done by a knowledgeable tech in about 2 hours if you want everything perfect, connectors, wires and harness run well, no broken clips, all brace bolts tightened and torqued properly. A well trained BMW tech did it in 2 hours.
