If the numbers are correct for everything (weight and 0-60) I am disappointed. Sure it's got at least 100hp over the m40i but this thing is chunky.. 300lbs?! Jfc.

Also I'm probably the only one but not enough exterior differences between m40i and m for me.

Given both models coming out at the same time - why would someone interested in the M get the non comp model?

The vehicles in the Autogefuhl video have the regulated filter I assume? I feel like there is still a reminisce of the S55 raspiness in it but I guess I’d have to hear it more.

When you drive a base M and and a M Competition back to back, you will understand why. It's not just about power you're getting with the Competition, the ride is stiffer and not everyone wants to drive a car with a stiff suspension.

I will take a M3/M4 and M5 over a M3/M4 Competition and M5 Competition any day for that reason alone. Higher trim isn't necessarily always better.

This will shit all over the X3 M40i...tuned or not. BMW likes to play games with 0-60 figures and HP. This looks to have a good chance optioned properly to be a sub 3.5s SAV. Can't disagree on the weight...4,600 pounds is crazy but look at what the current X5M / X6M can do with it's whale ass lol. I do wish I could fit that V8 where I park.

The price! I called it within a few bucks but a base X3M and a fully loaded X3 M40i are the same price.

Fair point, though I own the M5C and have been pretty satisfied with the comfort level of the ride and suspension in the comfort settings. I suppose it's subjective.

Well said! The non-Competition 'base' is likely easier to live with as a daily driver, especially for those who live in cities with bad roads.

X3 looks awesome. Not a fan of the X4's new profile and rear end. The rear looks too tall/upright, especially with the slim taillights. Those black/yellow sports seats look great too.

As a 2018 F85 owner, BMW M did wonders with the chassis tune, engine response, ect. Weight is a non-factor, as the X5M is just planted to the asphalt.

Thanks. Missed it. They didn't do a good job revving it plus it was indoors. Sounds a bit different than S55.

I hope you're right! But I'm afraid those numbers are reserved for the x6m/x5m though I was still expecting to see 3.8 at the least for non comp. Really don't understand why bmw would play with numbers like that but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Anyway from the little rev I heard from the review it sounds like an s55 to me :/ in that regard I'll take my b58 any day. Sound is a big thing for me.

Very nice to see the price as well!

Lets compare:

BMW X3M Comp I6 503hp, 442 torque, 4620lbs, 0-60 no test data
Jaguar F Pace SVR V8 550hp, 502 torque, 4395 lbs, 0-60 no test data
Alfa Stelvio Quad V6 505hp, 443 torque, 4340 lbs, 0-60 3.3 C&D
Merc GLC AMG63S V8 503hp, 516 torque, 4517 lbs, 0-60 3.3 C&D
Porsche Macan Turbo V6 440hp, 442 torque, 4488lbs, 0-60 3.5 C&D

Good news, this segment has broken the 3.5 second mark and it looked like BMW should have been right there at 3.3 wtih the Alfa and Mercedes, BUT the weight is insane, 300 lbs heavier than the Alfa???
225 lbs heavier than the F Pace that has a V8, makes no sense. How is this heavier than a mercedes? BMW should be around 4300 lbs with these.

Honestly that curb weight must be a typo...

It's happened before when everyone thought the S55 had a different bore + stroke than the N55 back in the day. BMW later corrected the specs.

Mine mine mine.

I wouldn’t stress the weight too much. You’ll see that in a direct comparison when put on the scales it will probably be lighter than the Merc, Jag etc. Those two consistently miss the advertised weight by quite a margin. And it’s defin a bigger car than the Macan/Stelvio, and those don’t have all the options available etc. Story is not complete. Just wait and see, I doubt these cars will disappoint.

wait in the pdf posted on page 6 it says unladen weight 1970 kg which is 4343 lbs but then has another higher number, anyone know how that relates to "curb weight" in the US?

never mind, found this online, old comparison of X5 35i, so this thing really is the HEAVIEST of all the high performance SUVs, thats just sad BMW

BMW X5 35i (past gen)
bmwusa.com: 2125kg / 4680 lbs Curb weight
bmw.de: 2030kg / 4475 lbs Leergewicht DIN
bmw.de 2105kg / 4640 lbs Leergewicht EG

Impressive specs from Bavarian Motor Works. One thing that stood out to me on motor build is a forged crank but no mention of forged rods. Rods (and bolts holding heads without stretching to prevent head gasket leaks ) can be a weak spot when increasing HP with custom tunes. Assuming they know what they are doing though. I personally do not tune at those HP levels but many will. Anyway , thank you BMW for building cars like. Wow!!!
The S58 video says the conrods are forged as well.
Missed that. Thanks for clarifying
