M3/M4 Engine Cover and Intakes

You guys think we will be able to get the M3/M4 engine cover and intakes? Should be some nice cone filter based options coming out for them at some point soon.

I think the X3M engine cover is nicer (well, as nice as plastic can be), with its symmetric look, covering many of the auxiliary functions. I wonder why the M3/M4 engine cover is so different to the X3M's?

The overall car proportions are different, so the engine bay is likely smaller. The X3M cover probably didn’t fit.

It's not about liking one cover over the other for me. It's about how it integrates with the intake on the x3m and wanting a more efficient intake design

Engine bay layout is different.

You can't fit that airbox in the X3M sides.
G8x M3/M4 engine sits closer to the hood.

But can we put the G80 front grilles and bumper on our X3M?

Nothing that Duct Tape can't do.

Or Zip Ties.

Who cares about the engine cover, I'm waiting to see if that sweet M Performance carbon fiber gas cap will fit the X3M :

You beat me to it. As far as the OP, visually it doesn't look possible to adapt the intakes to our platform. More importantly not sure why you would want spend the time doing so. Just get the m3/m4 at that point.

...BUT I would transplant those carbon bucket seats in a heartbeat

Not sure you guys get it. I don't want the stock ones. Aftermarket surely will come out with a similar design tho using cone filters. Probably would need some adapting, but I don't see why everyone is so negative. Panel filters aren't great for performance

As mentioned, the stock air box was integrated into the engine cover due to space constraints. There might be an aftermarket intake that uses cone filters sometime in the future, but it would have to be creative and way different than the G80 design.

That's why I've made fun of Eventuri Air Intake.
Nothing against them, I like their product and quality.
I was so looking forward to get it for my X3MC.

But after seeing what it actually is, I got really disappointed.

I was hoping that Eventuri to use their patented reverse cone air filter that smoothing out the air flow.

I don't think you get it. Sounds like people already told you that it wouldn't work.

might look like this.
However, it seems to require too many modifications.
Not sure any aftermarket brands will try this.

Yeah, the induction routing for the front turbo which would need to cross in front of the engine will be the sticking point. Without looking at the dimensions, it's hard to say if fabrication would be as simple as round tubing or if it would need to be injection mold pieces that conform to the clearances. At thats just for it to mechanically fit and not factoring in airflow.

Bumping this to see if anyone has successfully retrofitted the M3/M4 engine cover to the X3M with aftermarket intakes.
