Has anyone in the U.K. switched from Conti to Pilots? I'm wondering if it will solve the rear wheel skipping in wet or damp conditions

Also, any views on differences in ride comfort?

I have mine booked in for fitting on 28th swapping to PS4’s from the conti’s. Wear on conti tyres seems rapid so hopefully the ps4’s last more than a year. I will let you know what the difference is once fitted.

8k miles just about, the back are down at the limit and front prob about 2.5mm but just decided to change them all as going to the ps4s. I usually get about 13-15k from the “drive tyres” but then this is my first M car so was expecting to need all 4 at once. How is your tyre wear v miles covered?

I've changed the crappy Conti's to MP4S's and the are much better.

No tyre skip from junctions, improved ride quality and overall a nicer feel.

Seems to be less wear too, but time will tell.

I will NEVER buy the Conti's again.

My rears were shot at 4.5k, fronts were fine but changed them anyway.

My car came with Contis,I got 4.5k miles out the rears on mine. Changed all 4 for MPS4`s massive difference in damp wet conditions. Car just feels so much better with Michelin`s.

Great to hear the Michelin tyres are better then, yea tbh if it wasnt for the fact it was still in summer i would have swapped to them sooner as they are right on the legal limit now so could possibly have looked at swapping them few months ago. Maybe 8k to hit the legal limit is not too bad then

Kwikfit were miles cheaper than anyone else when they had the 15% off if you buy 4 premium tyres. However i only use the mobile fitting service as they have always taken a lot more care of previous cars of mine and my wife’s so feel happy enough to use them. Was £790 for the 4 ps4s inc the mobile fitting charge if that helps.....wait for a deal tho as it was £925 before the discount!!

After having the ps4s tyres fitted the other day i can confirm that road noise is a bit quieter than the conti’s were and no wheel hop/slipping anymore when moving off with steering turned to side. Not convinced it is any different in terms of the ride quality but time will tell once i get it over a few rough roads. Not really pushed them yet so cant say how the grip is at high speeds but it does feel like its sharper/gripping better as such even at lower speeds about town.
