X3/4M Vs ...

So we all know the X3/4M is a very capable SAV. Just curious to see how many of you have taken on other SAV in the same class or even higher up and how you faired.

All I find on the internet is review videos, I want to hear/see some real world engagements.

I checked out the Stelvio Quad, GLC63 and Macan GTS. I had come from a Fpace S and didn't want another JLR product because I wasn't happy with the dealers in my area. I also feel that LR is over priced for their SVR versions.

I didn't really feel any of the vehicles stood hand and shoulders above one or the other. All 3 of the examples I gave are smaller than the X3M which in turn was smaller than my Fpace. I personally felt the Stelvio Quad was the one that handled the best for what I was looking for but it had by far the worst interior of any of the options.

In the end it came down to money. The X3M was much cheaper than all of its competitors by a good margin. Since none of them were stand out better, I went with saving $6500.

Yup money was a big factor for me. Stelvio QV, GLC63, and FPace SVR were $100s more per month on lease which was out of my budget, or at least beyond what I want to be spending. Stelvio interior is awful anyway. Macan is too cramped and too slow in addition to overpriced. Jeep SRT too slow and bad transmission in a somewhat expensive package. Jeep Trackhawk more for drag racing and again, expensive.

So for me it was X3M or tuned and loaded X3 M40i. I loved the M and it priced out at only $67k, zero down lease at $790/mo before tax. Done deal!

Basically I thought about driving the "others" but knew I didn't want them for the above reasons, so didn't.

How was the ride of the GLC63 compared to the X3M? More bumpy, less bumpy?

We had a Stelvio, standard 2.0L and a Quadrifoglio. It was fun to drive, handling was excellent. The ride was just ok. My wife described it as darty. It wouldn't track straight, bumps would send it all over the road. Dangerously at times.
The Quadrifoglio was very fast, I'd say stock to stock it would be a close race. But it doesn't have launch control, so if you spin it would bog down.
Now the reliability... never have I experienced such a terrible vehicle. Check engine light came on monthly for no real reason. Spent so much time in the shop. Interior parts broke, infotainment was glitchy.

I drove the Glc 63amg. I really liked it. But it was not the updated interior that came on the 2020. Felt very outdated. Performance was great, sounds awesome. Ride, was slightly better than the X3m.

Since having my X3m with Bm3 stage 1 93 I have run my neighbors GLC 63s and put about 3 lengths on him from a dig. It's such an awesome machine.

I've driven Macan S/GTS quite a bit. The power is far off from the X3/4M but the overall driving dynamics are without a doubt a cut above. With that being said the Bimmers can hold their own and their power is just intoxicating.

Both vehicles are "fun," but they are "fun" in different ways. The Porsche is like a truly engaging sport sedan on stilts that you can straight up throw into turns, whereas the Bimmers are full blown muscle cars that handle at least competently.
