I don't think so. It goes up and down more than it goes round and round.

my gut tells me the ID7 will be code-albe at some point to duplicate what's in the '21 X3M & M8 tach/ID7/virtual cockpit
So the '20 M5 does NOT have that center tach mode? Huh; I didn't know that.
If that's true... that's REALLY dumb.

I'd much rather have a better looking center cluster layout than customization and another annoying voice assistant in my life.
the '20 x3m does have id6
I know but the 2020 models will switch over as stated by the OP in April. I was hoping they'd wait till the 2021 models for iD7.

I’m pretty sure the April models will be 2021 model year.

Hey Guys

I just checked the Configurator in Switzerland and the pictures are already updated with the ID7. (See Picture attached)

Since I configurated the X4M maybe 100 times i knew the price of the car. But now the car got more expensive (around 5-6k)! Is it the same case in your countries?

I'd settle on screen share if they allowed it to be used while in motion. Maybe there's a way to code it.

It's ok I guess. None of my cars have android auto except my wifes . Hell, 80K car with 30 cameras and I can't even get remote start either.
I see your point, but not the technical aspects are an issue here...

BMW did not want to support it, not because of tech, because of data sharing. Android Auto by default collects so much data that BMW was not willing to share...

Check google for the reasons, you will find a lot of information about this topic.

As they will support it soon, they probably have some new deals where they agreed on...

Interesting! While I have not personally seen the US order/pricing guide, I've been told pricing in the USA has not changed for '21 model year. I'm guessing the guide will be out sometime this month, though, and we will know for sure.

Ahh well I stand corrected. I didn't think that would happen until July or August.

I have both and I prefer M2C's cluster. Simple and easy to read. They have put too many cherries on these new clusters.

Have you actually tried to do anything on the MBUX interface (particularly while driving)? I'm an IT guy by trade and have worked with dozens of end-user system in my life and I really struggled to figure out how to use the system. Everything is buried 3 or 4 layers deep in a menu system. The "hey Mercedes" sometimes helps with that, but not always. Try to get the top-down camera on a new GLE or GLS to come on when you are are trying to avoid curbing your rims while parking. Unless you are already in reverse, there is no quick and easy way to do it.

On a BMW, you just press the camera button on the center console area, even if you are still moving forward. Yeah, it doesn't look as pretty, but you can get something done in a second without having to stop and take your eyes off the road to do it.

The newest Audi system is similar with all the touchscreen based stuff and no more hard buttons. Yeah it looks nice, but it is much more difficult to do things with.

When you have to take your eyes off the road to perform the simple tasks that you do multiple times during a drive session (climate control, media/radio, seat heating/ventilation, etc) that is a huge safety issue and a complete failure of user interface design.

save the touchscreens/menu systems for the rarely used functions. You know, the set it once and forget it things. Make sure there are quick shortcuts or better yet actual physical buttons on either the steering wheel, dash, or console (that can be found via muscle memory or tactile feedback) for the commonly used functions like HVAC controls, volume controls, etc.

Considering how distracted most of our drivers are already, we don't need to add even more distractions to the list.

iDrive still is the most functional of the 3 systems, though I do feel that BMW is starting to lose its way with iDrive 7. Due to marketing pressure (like many of the folks here talking about 7's superiority versus iDrive 6) they are trying to make the system "prettier" at the cost of functionality and ease-of-use.
+1 ID7 may have some functional advantages, however I still prefer the look of ID6. So much so, I would be willing to sacrifice said functional advantages

I agree, this new instrument cluster looks weird, as I mentioned a previous post, GM in the late 80s early 90s brought out a GMC mini van (cannot remember the series) the instrument cluster looked exactly like this stupid one but without the RPM side as they did show this info back then! What is wrong with BMW? Bring back the old look but with more advancement, I'm sure BMW engineers can think of a better looking cluster than this one...

I had my car in for its break in service last week & got a lift back to the office from the dealership's shuttle driver. He brought me back in a 2020 X5 that had the new display. I suppose it's something one could get used to over time, but I found it really cluttered & busy. I don't know that I'd not buy a car, just based on that, but I definitely prefer the old style display that I've got.

With ID7, will CarPlay take up the entire screen?

+1, and not just because that's what I have. Drove a 21 loaner M40i with idrive7. Some of the map and cell integration was better, but from a sports perspective, I much preferred the visceral feel of the 6 cluster.
