I have the Zappi charger from My Energi. Excellent charger, has a built in display, easy to install (so my installer said), it's smart so updates itself via the internet and can be set to work with solely solar, solely grid or a mixture of both if you have solar panels at home.
I also have the untethered one as i just think it makes it more future proof but I may be completely wrong with that bit, either way most cars come with the required cables so I couldn't see the point in paying more for a built in cable. Although it is slightly more convenient. https://myenergi.com/product/zappi/ |

I have a PodPoint Solo and while it's pretty basic, it does the job and has never let me down on timed charging or anything like that.
However I'm moving house soon and my next charger will be a MyEnergi Zappi. They seem to be putting a lot of effort into the user experience which is missing from a lot of other brands. |

Bear in mind that most people only have experience of a single type of charger.
My neighbour has a Zappi. I considered it, but they are quite expensive if you just want a simple smart charger. If you have solar, then they are possibly the one to go for, but there is even more cost with the interface electronics needed. I bought a Wallbox Pulsar Plus. It is tiny, and was cheaper than the Zappi. The plug is almost as big as the charger! Does everything that the other chargers do, but in a smaller package the doesn't stick out too much on the wall of my house. A key feature for me is an electronic lock - it automatically locks itself after a minute (I think) of non-use. So nobody can pull up and plug in. The box has wi-fi and Bluetooth in it. The wi-fi connection allows you to connect from anywhere and unlock the box (eg if a friend wants to use it). Although it does lose its connection every now and then. Also, it has never failed to charge for me. Wallbox offer fixed price installation. Although that has increased recently. You may be able to get it installed cheaper by an electrician. They are incredibly simple to install. There may be smaller chargers than this one, but I don't know which! Oh BTW - I would recommend buying a wall charger with a tethered cable. That way it is always ready to go - grab the cable and plug it in. When finished, hang up the cable. If you opt for one without a cable, you need to get the cable out of the boot every time. If it has rained during charging, you will be putting away a wet and dirty cable. |

+1 on the Wallbox Pulsar Plus for me.
I had it installed yesterday, bought through Smart Home Charge. Good price overall, £858 including fitting for me. Very good service, would highly recommend them. Just need the car to arrive now… my G21 M340i will have to suffice for now, even though it costs more and more each day to fill it up!
