So easy a caveman could do it. Lol. In all seriousness the program looks well laid out for beginners.

Does this work on LCI?

New to BMW and I just got Bimmercode to do the workaround ambient lights. I can code just one color to replace bronze and then play with the combos.

Yes - it's really easy to replace bronze with a selection of options without going into Expert Mode. You just can't have two separate colours unless you go Expert.

Managed to make a few changes myself today. Great guide. Just needed to make my own spreadsheet with new hex codes.

Also managed to colour match to SPY which looks epic. Added Cyan, Red, Neon Orange, and bright purple.

Are you using Bimmercode? I desperately want the red cyan blue option but can't quite figure out the hex code? Any chance in heck.you.could do a step by step for dummies (me)??

I received my Protool Bluetooth dongle from Bimmergeeks today and found it much easier and faster to code colours. I primarily got it to code anti-dazzle.

You can put any colour in any of the original slots and any combination of those colours easily. Some are already available (red, light blue, yellow, pink) or can create custom using hex.

Thanks for the post pyo!

Yeah - I too got Protool primarily to re-code the Anti Dazzle Headlights (which I lost with recent OTA software update). As a bonus, I coded the ambient lighting to my liking. Piece of cake with Protool. No Hex numbers needed.

Protool for the win.

How easy is the Protool for enabling the anti dazzle feature? I’ve always found the steps for Esys to be to intimidating do have just paid someone to do it but if Protool is easy to enable this feature it might be worth it to purchase so if an update wipes the feature out, I can redo it myself.

It was quite easy. I used their BT dongle and it was incredibly fast. I asked their tech support if this was the correct sequence of steps and they said step 3 was not necessary.

ProTool Steps:
Change Vehicle Order (VO) and remove 5AP option
App factory coded the HEADUNIT and BDC
In BDC coding, there is a popular option to enable Anti-Dazzle (Step 1). Per their support, this toggles various options in the ECU
In KAFAS coding, enable Anti-Dazzle Improved Dynamics

Their tech support also said that VLD (variable light distribution) can be coded back in if it is decoded (8S4). I didn't have that option in my VO so assuming I already have it.

ps: I prefer the red on top and blue on the bottom as the blue is brighter than the red/our eyes pic it up more.
I’m having trouble with this, everytime I code it, it resets it back to bronze along with resetting everyone else like not letting my mirrors close when locking and etc.

Any chance you have screenshots of the steps you used? I was intimidated after reading about the VO coding and process with Esys, was hoping Protool was easier, like toggle a switch to enable the anti dazzle and the tool does all the steps for you (as an example) but looks like you still have to VO code from your list of steps.

Sorry I didn't take screenshots. I was stumbling through it a little bit because I'm just a month and a half into the BMW world and am new to Bimmercode, Bimmerlink and Protool. Protool support was very responsive though. I also found it much faster even with their bluetooth dongle than Bimmercode with a bluetooth dongle.

Because I had enabled most features of anti-dazzle using Bimmercode, the protool just brings it closer to the factory intended operation apparently. I think this is because it can code the KAFAS module.

The VO coding part was not difficult at all. Refer to this post by Pyo and another with screenshots but for the X5 for reference.

Does anyone know the details for the library? Like which byte is for which colour? I’m trying to change the bronze to cyan (can be achieved using default coding from
Bimmercode) however I wish to change the default orange to red. There is 151 bytes and I can’t figure out which is which.

In case you haven't figured this one out already, using Bimmercode set the Bronze default to Cyan and chose Bronze/White as your setting on your car. Then go into Expert mode and change Byte 3 to 0x08, keeping Byte 2 as 0x01. That'll be Red over Cyan. If you want Cyan over Red, keep Byte 3 as 0X01 and change Byte 2 to 0X08.

I just started playing around with the numbers and figured out that Red is 08. That would be awesome if someone had a list of all the available colors though.

00 white
01 bronze
02 orange
03 blue
04 green
05 lilac
06 (not sure but it looked like really faint lilac when I selected it? Almost white?)
07 off/nothing
08 red

I stopped after that once I found red.

I think what you mentioned is the profile and not the library.

For ALL HEX codes simply go here then map to whichever colour you want to:

https://htmlcolorcodes.com/

That's how I found SPY (or a close match to it).

Oops, you're correct. I was speaking to the profile. I don't know if anyone has posted which bytes correspond to what in the library yet?

I might try and play around with it this weekend though and see.

It’s probably in here somewhere but I read you should not code red as FF0000. Code it as FE0000. I forget why though
