Love the Toronto Red. Just not brave enough to do it on the daily car, but I admire those of you that have it. Congrats!

Agree.

I would do it in a hearbeat if I am still in my 20's.

A lot of people have PMed or asked on this post about the ride and how it compares to the M40i. A couple of days ago when I took delivery I was still too drunk in love with my new red mistress to even pay any attention to the ride so I answered a fella and said that the car was amazing and not to worry about all the negative bullshit posted online about how stiff the ride is.

But a couple of days in, I can tell you that the ride is definitely stiff. On comfort mode the suspension is not like a Lincoln town car but then again, why would you buy an X3M or any M car for that matter and expect a non sporty ride even in comfort mode? It’s an M car!

In my opinion, if you want a smooth ride and decent power from a BMW SUV (SAV or whatever) just get an X5 or X7. If you want an M car that is an SUV, the X3M (or X4M) is perfect because you get all the performance you would expect from an M car and it has the new S58 engine in it. In fact, it is the first model ever with the S58 in it! It's like getting the new M3 2 years before everybody else!! I had considered a lot of options but because of the nature of my previous lease contract and the fact that the best deals in car buying are December deals, everybody knows that, I pulled the trigger.

My other considerations were to wait until the end of my M40i lease in June (and pay about two grand in over mileage penalties) and get something to tie me over until the new M3 came out, or put a deposit on an M2CS which my dealership had enough allocations for. But the M2CS is really not the right car for me because it is too small. If I had the disposable income I would have bought it to collect it and driven something else as a DD but that is not the case so I abandoned the idea.

This move made a lot of sense because the dealer had 9 X3Ms in stock, and weren't moving them for over three months now. I knew because I was following the inventory closely ever since they came in. The demand for the new M3 is going to be absolutely furious, whereas the demand for these models is nowhere near that right now. There was no way I Hell I was going to be able to get an $8k discount on a new M3 next year (or the year after, God knows when it will launch) so this was the way to go. I am VERY pleased with how the whole experience went down and my sales rep is a personal friend who really took care of me so it was great.

Ok thanks for that - is good to hear different opinions.
Here in South Africa & i seen mention of the same for UK it seems we are only going to have M40i or X3/X4 Competitions....no standard x3m/x4m coming.
Kinda why i asked as its A or C with no B option

BMW of South Austin? If so, hubby and I saw you come in and pick it up. We ended up buying the Grey on Grey X3M Competition on the showroom floor and interestingly, our bumper was also scratched and left with a We Owe for them to fix it for us. That red on white color combo is sick!

Why does it require one to be brave? It is an awesome color. Every car is either black, white or grey. BOOOOORIIIIINGGG ZZZZzzzzzzzZZZZZZZzzzzz. I've been waiting YEARS for BMW to come up with a nice red. The Sakhir Orange was NOT it. Then came some other flavor of orange on the M2... no thanks. Now finally a red that is good enough to be in the same class as the famed Imola. Years, I tell you, I've been waiting. I actually wanted red seats but I didn't want to custom order because it would be more expensive so I went with this one because I love white seats.
