I actually only did one of the launches properly with launch control. That was my first time in this car. I'm much better now.

Just to confirm the coverage assuming I've interpreted correctly - it's capped @ $7,500US per reported incident, correct?

Yes, confirmed on that.
I guess it is better than nothing, especially for the price point.
It is not as expensive as other brand that covers warranty.
And so far, no other aftermarket tunes that are willing to offer such engine warranty, both piggyback and flash tunes.

Waiting on this info too. Thx!
Others have answered.

But on the side note, guys are waiting on Flashtune like BM3, which is removing some of the factory safety parameters.

While RaceChip still relies on factory set safety parameters.
Yeah, might wait to see BM3 does. I have read some not so good reviews about race chip. Race-chip is just a piggyback not an ecu flash.

I am curious about your post.
Please enlighten me. I am curious about it.
I have been selling RaceChip since 2014 and I haven't had any major issue about it.
Most of the time are small issues, installation issues.

Well based on last gen M3 V8 20-25k for new engine. So maybe the S58 is like 12-15k.

Right. That is a full engine replacement price.

And we are talking about piggyback here, where all the engine safety parameters are still following factory specs.
So, if the ECU or engine doesn't like it, you will go to a limp mode to protect your engine from blowing up.

Piggyback has been sought after by many manufacturers in the past decade since it is much safer than flash tune.
It come to par with most Stage 1 flash tune.

If you mentioned nightmare on the hardware, yes, there was some issue with the old hardware.
But that is all in the past already, that was Gen 1 board and totally different engineering team. Some German tuners still using it up to today, while RaceChip has been using a new and improved Gen 2 board for the past 2 years.
Even that, the ratio was 1 out of 100 in my case.

Thanks for the info,

This is what I appreciate most about these forums. How tough is the install on the Race Chip?

In this particular engine.

From 1 to 10 as 10 being very difficult.
I put it as 5.
It is not difficult at all, just time consuming.
Since Cam sensor and TMAP are below the Air Intake / Engine Cover.
While the Boost sensor is on the bottom, where accessible from Driver side wheel well.

But trust me, it is not as hard as Mercedes Benz E63s AMG, where it takes me 1 hours with bloody hand and leaving my skin all over the engine bay.
So far that is the most difficult piggy back installation I ever done.
Besides removing some stuff, it also require you to have double jointed fingers.

Well yeah, but preferably would want a new one if the car is under warranty.

Just to confirm the coverage assuming I've interpreted correctly - it's capped @ $7,500US per reported incident, correct?

Exactly. I'll wait for Dinan's ECU flash and even then, not sure I need to boost more power out if this engine. Quite like it where it is now

Once you are in 600+ hp, like MrItaly and I. You won't look back.
I doubt Dinan will be pushing that hard.
They are known to push less and collect more. The new motto since Steve Dinan left the Dinan company.

Old news that Steve sold his operation. Dinan never had a tune that overstressed an engine, that was no secret. It was more about a smooth power curve. In any event, not looking to get into a tune discussion - Merry Christmas everyone

I seriously and honestly could not ask for more power or torque from my DD. Dedicated track vehicle would be different, but as family hauler pulling double duty.... I couldn't ask for no more.... And once I get it back to the states, it might be too much.
