One year of ownership SiriusXM question
They shut me off. I was really expecting more of an effort from them to keep me. Who got the best renewal deal? Best I saw (once in an emai) was $99 + $28 tax and fees for a one year re-up. I only listen to one news station (that I really miss) since when I want music I have an onboard usb connected 128gb iPod personal collection.

I find them to be the most maddening company. It’s nearly impossible to get them to drop an old car that I no longer own (they just tried to charge me again) while I have 3 year old VW for the kids that they never turned off the free trial period on.
I will not renew when this one ends. Very happy with Spotify, NPR, podcasts, etc. but then again I don’t really drive anywhere where there isn’t coverage either. |

Yes, exactly what I did and what they promised. Tried to charge me anyway. Very consistent with every experience I have had with them. I consider them very shady.

Just call and say you were thinking about keeping it, but the price is way too high. They will get you a lower price...I regularly paid about $25 for 3-5 months.

During the holidays, there were offers of something like a year for $60. Supposedly, $99/year is their "standard" lower offer. if you push them, others have gotten 5 months for $25 or maybe 1 year/$60. Some people have gotten this easily, others have had to work for it.
I never listen to XM, and so I'm going to let mine expire. |

It's likely They'll Never Stop
We're still getting offers on our 2013 Cr-V (purchased 04/2013) which had a 3 month trial. Several of the offers have been very cheap.

I've been a customer for over well over a decade using the same retention offer. It's gone up over the years, but still decent. Right now it's $30 for 6 months.
Call them and tell them you want that offer. They will say no. Ask to be transferred to retentions. They may push back. Just be firm and you're in and out with the transaction on 5 minutes. Trust me - it's never fun dealing with them but I think they get it when a customer calls in knowing the best deal available.

Before @RCtennis3811 posted, I was going to say you can usually get the $30 for 6 months deal from a "retention specialist". But I refuse to support this company. When in the devil are they just going to quit all the games. Like the auto renew thing at something like $14.99/month unless you call to cancel (don't ever give these people a credit card #, tell them to bill you - even though they will try to pressure you to give the card #). Or the games we have to play threatening to quit them before they will give you the $30 for 6 months.
These fools actually turned me into collections one time because they did not shut off XM on a car I sold, even though I told them when I sold it (it had 45 days remaining when car was sold). 4 months later, I get a collection notice. So I called to say WTF!There response was that the new owner "or somebody" must still be using it, therefore, I owe them 2 months at $19.99 plus late fees, etc. to the tune of almost $60. I told them to stick it sideways, gave them the date and person's name I spoke to about canceling...but the collection agency still insisted I owed. I threatened to lawyer up, and eventually they removed it from collections. Never hit my credit report or I would have actually hired a lawyer. So I will never pay for this crappy service. I likely won't listen to it more than 3 times in the year it will be active. Otherwise, Spotify, Pandora and Apple Music work better for me. |

I do the call just before the current contract ends to get the renewal deal; ADDITIONALLY I only authorize a one time charge on my card to avoid the auto renewal. They've gotten better, but it is still one of the most frustrating business models to deal with!

Sirius is a SCAM!! Just Google search "sirius scam credit card" to find out more. Once you give them your credit card, they will automatically renew the service at full retail price even. Even if you call them and tell them to turned off auto renewal, you will still be auto billed. DO NOT EVER give them your credit card number. You can send them a check - this seems to be the best option unless you have a credit card or Visa gift card that is about to expire.
Sirius is a worse company than Comcast IMO |

I agree with everyone here that SiriusXM is super shady. I just can't get over not having some the of the stations I have listened to for so long, even with Apple Music! 😬

My spouse and I used to renew one year for $77 and did that multiple years. In the last few years the best we could get was somewhere around $85. The website has gotten much better as you can now add, delete and transfer service and vehicles in your account as well as assigning nicknames to each radio I’d for clearer labeling.

I never look forward to dealing with them. Been able to renew previous subscriptions for about $30 for 5 months but it does take some negotiation to get that price. And as mentioned ask for retention department to make progress quicker.
More than a decade ago I purchased a lifetime subscription on my new car and still use the web streaming for that long gone vehicle account. The next owner is enjoying free lifetime XM as well!. It cost about $350 at the time but I had that car for 5 years so it worked out in my favor. As far as I know they no longer offer a lifetime plan. My concern before buying this lifetime plan was that XM/Sirius would go belly up. Wish the fidelity was better and the music catalog was bigger but I still use it daily in addition to USB music since they play the same songs over and over. |

I had my last car (M2) for two years - I started getting increasingly desperate letters at 6 months or so to get me to pay to keep it, but the service still worked when I sold the car and I never responded to any of the notices.

OK, thanks. Just surprised they didn't cut it off at one year. They always notified me in advance when it was about to expire on my other BMW's.
