Hmmm.....If our cars supposedly use the GPS system to work in unison with our "Adaptive" suspension setting, why should it not work with figuring out we're on a exit ramp and shut off the ACC every time for safety?

I should add that I tapped the brake before the car got to 60mph. I would guess the DSC or something would kick in eventually and save my life going too fast on the cloverleaf, but I was not about to use myself as testing dummy and try it out myself...

Am i the only one that hates ACC?

A big part of my commute is on two lane highways (divided) with light to medium traffic. I tend to be in the passing lane quite often as I drive a bit faster than the limit (nothing crazy). I have found if I'm driving in the slow lane and slowly creep up on the car ahead of me, it slows me down without me noticing. I sometimes realize that I am only driving 100-105 km/h when my cruise is actually set to 120 ish. Once I notice, I switch into the passing lane and then it re-accelerates to 120.

With regular cruise control set to 120, once I start closing the distance with the car in front of me, I simply switch into the passing lane without slowing down and my speed is unaffected. I see very little value in ACC as I am rarely ever forced to follow a vehicle ahead of me, I simply pass it...

That is how ACC is supposed to work. You can switch from ACC to CC by press and hold the button for adjusting distance for ACC. (try to )

I know that's how it's supposed to work, just saying I don't see any value in it for the type of driving I do. Wondering if I'm the only one annoyed by ACC and don't use it.

like you said - it depends on the driving style. I'm using it on highways, but can imagine it could work better. It waits for too long to my liking In traffic jams with stop and go, the way it work is great. I would probably start to using it on highways as a "simple" cruise control.

I agree it could be a bit better at letting me know it's slowing down, like visually in the HUD with changing the color of the car symbol or something.
But I am totally in to ACC. Makes me drive more safely, and more relaxed.

I skimmed over my manual, and nowhere can I find it mentioning being able to go between an acc state and a cc state. any chance of a screenshot of yours? maybe I'm just missing something.

I will be checking to see if this works on my way home in a little while... I'm wondering if its region specific?

There you go. If you don't have it, this would be another country/region specific item, and it was nowhere mentioned yet (AFAIK).

Thank you VERY much.

I can state for sure that, with both DA and DA+, with everything associated with cruise control, my 30i does in fact NOT have this option. (did further perusing of the manual, and tried numerous times on the highway, both with vehicles detected ahead and not)

Goes right up there with lane keep assist, in that it does NOT actually change lanes if you use the indicator stalk in a certain fashion while under the control of the required features/functions.

Starting to wonder exactly how many of our vehicles features are region specific...

Ditto - had not been successful for the auto lane change after 2 tries... wondering if I did anything wrong, or if this feature was deleted for the 2019???

I'm surprised that it works for BobsM3Coupe, as Lane Change Assist is supposedly disabled in the US/Canada (and possibly in EU, even though it's listed in their sales docs there): https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh....php?t=1258496

(Note that Lane Change Assist is different than Lane Control Assist or Lane Departure.)

Yes, change lane assist works in Sweden. Don't use it though.

The freakiest is the automating parking. The speed of the wheel steering is crazy. Didn't think I'd be using it either since I assumed it wouldn't be as good as my parking skills. I was wrong. It's amazing.

Agreed with you on the Auto Parking. Tried it at the dealer with a 540i and an X3, and was scared by the speed of the car going forward and backward several times to pull itself into a tight parking spot at the dealer. Was afraid that it would whack a few brand new BMW in the process... Never use it once in my own X3 since I have the parking skill

How it worked for me was that I held the turn signal lever to the first friction point where it activates the turn signal, not all the way where it would click for a normal turn. Then I continued to hold it there till it slowly made the lane change.
It worked so slowly that I'll never use it. It's just too slow to make the lane change.

Love the parking for parallel spots...especially for San Francisco hills. Not a fan for straight in parking. Tried it once and it didn’t see a low curb on one side and gave me a small but noticeable smudge of curb rash. Grr.

It appears if the vehicle is below 43 mph, it can use either the lane markings or the vehicle ahead to steer the vehicle. Above 43 mph it uses the lane markings.
