Reversing an iX3
I'm having an issue reversing my iX3. In short I'm finding it nearly impossible to reverse a short distance.
Previously I owned an i3 and after engaging reverse, lifting your foot gently off the brake was sufficient to start the car rolling slowly backwards - no gas required. Easy to move just a few centimetres. On the iX3 I find that the only way to get the car moving after engaging reverse is to apply a reasonable amount of gas, at which point the car starts moving quite quickly. This is a problem if you're trying to manoeuvre in a small space and only want to roll the car back by a few centimetres. It seems like you have to get the car moving then slam on the brakes as quick as you can with very little control over the stopping distance. Does anyone else have the same problem? Is there a more graceful way to reverse the iX3 a short distance? Thanks. |

I tend to have auto hold on at all times, except when parking up, I then switch it off, especially when reversing up the driveway at home

Basically this. I also have auto hold on all the time but it's a pain in the rear when trying to creep slowly so I just turn it off when I want to do it.

When I first got an automatic, after two decades of driving a manual, I found putting it in the garage was an issue judging how much power to apply, it didn't help car was rather tight fit for garage. I started covering the brake with my left foot to ensure it wouldn't go too fast, though braking could be a bit harsh but better that than using garage wall to stop.
It really helped when later I started getting issues with right knee being able use both feet to brake. |

Was this due to the chip shortage again? I thought all IX3's came with a back up engine just in case you ran out of electrons. Are you telling me I've been driving around with petrol in the boot for no reason?

The backup engine is why there is nowhere to put a spare wheel.

Hello,
I’ve just seen via the My BMW App a video which may provide help and support with optimum driving modes for reversing your iX3. Everyone may prefer something different but it looks like D mode with high recuperation, then cover the brake pedal may be the best option for low speed reversing? Many thanks, |
