Tail Light STILL not working after fix
Vehicle: 2011 BMW X3 (F25) x35i
The right rear tail lamp (the led bar) is not lighting; it is the inner lamp not the one on the tailgate. The turn signal light works. The brake light works. I've already replaced the LED control board with a new Mean Well LDD-500L led driver. Referencing the photo below I applied 12v battery power to the 2 gold leads. Nothing. I checked voltage from the very thin black / gray wire (located at right) and the very thin pink / red wire (located at right); attaching my multimeter + and - leads to those to locations on the driver produced 12.1 volts. It appears to be passing power from the Vin side to the Vout side. Could my issue be a bad fuse which controls JUST the led bar within the right rear tail lamp? Sounds unlikely but i'm all out of ideas. I have to assume the led light died. And for the record i cant make any sense of the heiroglyphs of the BMW fuse chart or wrap my head around why there is a fuse box within my glovebox and another in my trunk. Thanks for any tips Last edited by crosis; 10-05-2018 at 08:51 PM.. |

I had the same thing happen with 3/4 rear LEDs, the turn signal and brake lights would work but the LED bars would not. I purchased a new set of identical LED drivers from eBay and it was a simple plug and play.
Is this the only tail light you have tried to fix? The issue could be related to the Mean Well or soldering. |

Thanks for the reply.
This is my first go at replacing the led driver. I ordered 4 led drivers (Mean Well LDD 500-L) and replaced the right tailgate light. It worked fine. But my second attempt, this rear side light, has failed. I will try desoldering and doing it all again to see what happens. Is there any chance the led tubes could be toast? Thanks. |

Tail light STILL not working after the fix
Is there a fuse for left turn signal. Just like OP by rear left module went bust. I followed exactly what I done before -replace the board witha LDL driver - tested the module by attaching to my right - tests fine. But when connected to the original left connector - no lights at all . Dash chirping at high rate - same for a gone bulb.

update on x3 Tail light saga
After fixing up the rear tail light - It still did not work - I had to go to the dealer. -
The fix was the hardness - BMW replaced it @170(inspection)+370 My eye could not tell - apparently harness connectors was corroded. Quote:

Careful with those amazon replacements... They have a tendency to basically be radio jammers and cause comfort access to stop working, FM radio reception to go to shit, and TPMS to throw faults. I bought my car with all those problems and they all went away after I got rid of those amazon circuit boards.
