How much power do you need to spin the tires?
Let's say with UHP all seasons and not using launch control. Just a hard, full throttle acceleration from a roll.
Roughly how much power and what "stage" tune would let you chirp the tires purely from acceleration? |

Probably around 500-600, the issue is these cars have a slight delay in power without launch/brake boost/antilag so really depends on the tune and how they have torque set.

the x3m is completely different and can spin the tires off launch even stock but that's just by design - narrower rear tires, a firmer suspension and a more aggressive launch control... it's also able to spin the tires with less torque at a lower RPM somehow... but again, it's made to lose traction and slide by default as it is an M car... whereas the M40i priorities traction and safety over everything

Yes
Also better engine, better trans, better diffs. Also stiffer suspension.

Concrete roads offered better grip as expected but it still lit em up w the piggyback using L/C

Is that delay designed to improve mechanical longevity or is it just a side effect of the factory tuning?

I’d say neither just how engines work. You can’t expect instant power just simple stomping on the pedal. The engine has to rev up,spool the turbo, and much more. That why we all use launch control because it allows the revs and turbo to spool off the line. Below are draggy launching the car and just full throttle off the line . Look at the G’s you can see how the car is responding differently. This was a simple launch bring rpm to 2k with about 5 pounds of boost so nothing crazy.(taking it easy on launches until I get my diff bolt fix) and to add on it’s a 4500lb car with AWD and good weight transfer so it’ll be hard to spin the tires without launch control. I’ve tried to spin mine in the rain aswell and it just grips and goes.

I think around 109-112 I think but Florida heat kills everything top end.
That was e30 stock hpfp so had to keep everything happy as well. Now I’m running 117 of my e85 base map low boost and timing making probably around 450 whp. I don’t live near any e85 2 hours every direction😡 so bought 10 gallons and used 5 so far but sadly ran out of time to dial in my car so that’s the test hit off my log. Car is a totally different monster on e85
