M40i exhaust valve controller-CG Precision

Hey guys just FYI if anyone is interested in having the ability to control your valved exhaust, the CG Precision Variable Sound Controller VSC-1 (cause we have one valve on the drivers side) found at the link below works for our car! It’s $200 for something that you can just unplug but I wanted the option to quiet my cold start when I’m in a place that I don’t want it that loud. If you got $200 to burn it’s worth it if not just unplug and get the same result. You can code it open but I hear that requires you to have it plugged in all the time to open it at each startup I have a JB4 so it occupies the obd port. Anyway hope this helps anyone interested to know the valve controller works. I love the valve being open all the time.

This is cool. Hate how loud my car is in the middle of the night. Love the sound during the day. Are there alternative products out there?

Does an open valve make it loud or quiet? I assume loud. We don't care for the loud on startup at all. Was looking at unplugging the valve to always be open but if that makes it loud on startup all the time, then we don't want that.

I'd buy this to make it start up closed and then go to factory after it warms up, if that is possible.

Open = Loud, but as OP said you can set to preference

Is there another way to stop the loud cold start permanently? The startup in the morning wakes the whole house!

I did some research and this will do nothing for the noisy startup. That is caused by the wastegate being opened all the way. The only way to eliminate the cold start noise is with a flash tune.

Good questions. There’s another post on here about warming up the car in sports plus. Park turn off the car or leave it on and unplug the valve and that keeps it in open position. Tape up and tie it so it’s not dangling. I’ve used that method for a while now. Makes coldstart LOUD sounds great and keeps it more sporty sounding in all modes comfort eco etc. I personally love it but there are times I want to close it on startup like late at night or super early morning. This $200 controller while pricy is a small price to pay for that level of control when you want to be classy. To close the valve before startup turn on the car without starting. Use the remote to close it then start the car like normal. You can choose different options with the controller so you can Have quiet cold starts and then open it whole driving. Not for everyone but I love it for having a louder stock exhaust which sounds great already. This gives it that extra.
