X3 CarPlay Fullscreen iOS 13

Hello,
Here are the few photos how iOS 13 looks with CarPlay Fullscreen in G01.
Way better than Splitscreen, and iOS 13 is awesome.
Current beta is stable, and I recommend it to anyone that is using Carplay.
Best thing about it that separates things that you do on your phone and your car.

yes! it is amazing and run super
I also prefer google maps!! and you can delete ios maps so google becomes you default option

Ugh, I really should get this coded. CarPlay with iOS13 has definitely been an improvement but going full screen would top it off for sure.

I might do this after my CarPlay trial is up. I do like the way ios13 integration is compared to 12

So this isn't just iOS 13, this is iOS 13 and the full screen CarPlay hack, right? I've already got full screen CarPlay in mine, so would just need to upgrade my phone, if I understand correctly.

Same here. iOS13 has upgraded CarPlay from being a nice-to-have. To a must-have, and this is coming from and Android user!

However my workphone is iOS. I have bought a wifi antenna which I will fit next week and then buy full screen carplay from eBay.

iOS13 looks superb abd I have just started using Waze. My other half who has an iPhone Xr will love iOS13!

Shame on BMW for not offering retrofitted CarPlay.

I think I would prefer the split-screen so I have access to XM radio and other i-drive stuff without leaving carplay. Though I guess you can still flip channels in the instrument panel?

I just wanted to say that kubax86 helped me with coding Full Screen CarPlay (including Video in Motion) for a very reasonable price. We had a little hiccup with it killing my satellite radio when I installed the coding, but he sent me a new patch which fixed it right up. He was very responsive and helpful. Since I'm in my free year trial of CarPlay, I didn't pursue any options for coding it for lifetime. I'll probably bite the bullet and give BMW their $300 when the time comes, if they haven't changed their position on that by then.

I'm really happy with Full Screen CarPlay. One benefit I hadn't anticipated was being able to see more information about the song or podcast that is playing. It's no longer truncated or squished. I've not installed the iOS 13 Beta, because I want to wait until the final version is released in a couple weeks. I'm really looking forward to being able to utilize all of the screen space on that big display.

Is it true that you lose the option to be split screen when not using car play? I like to have it split when listening to SAT radio. Likewise, if listening to SAT radio with CarPlay open is there anyway to display what is playing/album art from SAT radio?

Well, that's the one downside. You do lose the split screen when you're in CarPlay world. It still works when you're in BMW world. So, if you're using CarPlay to navigate, you can't see what's playing on SiriusXM. But if you're in the BMW menu, you can see navigation in the larger window and your SAT radio in the split screen.

I did think of some workarounds. Once iOS 13 launches, you can have maps up and there is a Now Playing window on the side. I'm assuming that if you play SiriusXM through the iPhone app, it will show up over on the side, so that sort of takes care of being able to see both of them. Another option is to just use the media or menu buttons to switch back and forth. I've put my "Presets" menu on button 1 and "Apple CarPlay" on button 2. It makes it super easy to jump back and forth. I do like to see what's playing on SiriusXM sometimes, but most of the time I'm ignoring it. FYI in order to have the split map screen with your calendar view and messages. The Apple Maps iOS app needs to be installed. I personally never use Apple Maps as Google Maps is far better. So when I tried CarPlay on my MB I thought something was broken. Just thought Id share.

Thanks for this update. I feared you would lose split screen everywhere.

I think I'll leave mine as is until my Sirius trial runs out in 6 months. By then maybe BMW will have their own official update or I'll go the eBay route. I can still use Sirius via another subscription I have with the app. Just won't be as slick switching channels via HUD and the car play volume levels are lower compared to native Sirius.

I hoped BMW would do an update to take advantage of the new features of CarPlay in iOS 13, like the ability to show info on multiple displays (like the HUD for turn by turn directions). I emailed BMW Customer Service and the BMW Genius and they said they were not aware of the features of iOS 13 and had no plans for an update. I put the full text of that conversation in another CarPlay thread on this forum.

Did anyone who got fullscreen CarPlay regret it? Is it hard to press things on the far right of the screen that are now moved over there?

I don’t regret it. There’s not much that gets moved to the far right yet, but there will be more with iOS 13. I’m an average height and don’t have trouble reaching “Now Playing,” which is in the upper right corner. You can spin the wheel to select things, too.
