I find that we're heavy users of the Connected app, though primarily to send destinations to the car. Since the X3 can't be remotely started or parked, I'm struggling under Tracy's doubtful glare to come up with something the Remote Key does that the regular keys and Connected don't. Did you ever do this retrofit or know anyone who did? Now I just need to get my head around why my G29 Z4 will have a card key and remote starting via Connected (though apparently the Display Key isn't a thing with G29's) but the more tech-stuffed G01 doesn't.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. DO NOT PAY FOR A DISPLAY KEY. In fact if you get a new car and it has a display key, ask for a normal one. They're complete and utter shite.
