Hi BimmerCode Noob here.

Is there anything we need to do prior to using the app? Meaning can we create a backup to a USB for factory settings? Or is there just a option to turn off what was changed/coded?
I am only planning on using the regular mode and not the advanced option. I just want to be sure I can reset it all back to stock if I break something or dealer visit.

Yes just from USB, unless you activate screen mirroring for an Android phone.

No USB is a thumb drive. USB connected iPhone is screen mirroring. The first one is possible.

Based on my brief experience with BimmerCode on Android, the app creates a backup when you first read an electronic module. You can download that backup onto a computer (I have done that so can confirm this for Android). The app has the ability to restore the backup, which will in theory wipe all of your codings and restore the electronic module to its original state. I am saying in theory because there is at least one person on this thread for whom the "restore backup" function failed. There are plenty of others who had no problems restoring their backups.

You have to make your own decision. The app supports backups and restores, but there is what appears to be tiny risk that things may not go as expected. If you are unwilling to accept that risk, don't code your car. Alternatively, find someone in your area who has Esys and can help you restore your car back to stock if you run into issues with BimmerCode.

Just received the Ethernet adapter set up for my iPad (I use that so I don’t mess with my phone/CarPlay setup). Wow, so much faster and easier to do everything than my old Vgate! I highly recommend this approach. I coded the following options

- Start in Adaptive
- Alpina dash
- display digital speed always
- ASD coded off
- warnings off
- volume display pop up off

I lost my presets in the process but that wasn’t the end of the world (I had backed up the driver profile but I guess the presets aren’t loaded there?). Love the new set up and ready for more options to code!

Did it work for you, mate? Thanks!

With idrive 7, it looks like the HU is now MGU, which bimmercode isn't able to help with, even in expert mode.

Any pointers on how to go about getting rid of warnings and adding temp to the PSI page?

We're going to have to wait for a bimmercode update. All of that is in the head unit ECU and although bimmercode can see the iDrive 7 head unit ECU, it cannot read it yet.

Thanks. Do you know if that's something they have working on other models yet? If not, I'm wondering if esysx is something to consider.

I remember seeing a post on here from bimmercode saying they are working on it. I think it was in the ASD thread, as the head unit ECU is where the ASD code resides as well.

Just want to give specific kudos to Almaretto & Gugin. I appreciate the responsiveness, insight, and assistance!

Not sure how the feedback system works, but A+++.

Hello all, does anyone know if it's possible to code to start the car without pressing the brake pedal?

Saw on an F30 forum that it's something like STARTLOCK_BRAKE = nicht_aktiv. Found something similar when digging around in expert mode on BimmerCode. Tried it, and the car wouldn't even start! Reversed the coding and it's back to normal now.

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas would love to hear back. Thanks.

Bimeercode newbie here.

-ASS coded
-Alpina dash
-Warnings off
-Close all windows delay removed
-Close the trunk with remote
-Start in Sport individual
-M video on iDrive

Imported user profile and all is good.

Now, the only thing left that bugs me is whenever I start the car the Welcome Driver 1 screen comes on, is there a setting anywhere that would turn this off? I looked everywhere in iDrive and can't find it in there nor in Bimmercode app.

Use BimmerCode with either an OBDLink MX+ Bluetooth Adapter or a UniCarScan UCSI-2000 Bluetooth Adapter.

You could also use a compatible ENET cable with an Ethernet adapter. As far as I'm aware this method is only compatible with iOS devices and not Android (info sourced from BimmerCode's website)...

I also got the OBDLink MX+. I read a lot on bimmer code and this is the preferred obd module to use. Or the ethernet gives faster speeds. Idk how slow the obd one is yet. Still dont have my car.
