instrument cluster doesn't illuminating during day time

Hello. I just bought X3 2015 X Drive 28i and discovered that the Instrument cluster doesn't illuminate during day time/ Is it a glitch with my car only or this is faulty BMW design.

if you turn on the lights/fog lights during the day do the instrument cluster lights come on?

This is normal. During the day, if the lights are off (to include fog lights) the instrument cluster does not illuminate. If you have the light switch selected to "auto", the instrument cluster will illuminate during the day even if the other lights are off.

Neither, it's supposed to be that way. So you can see them better in the daytime. It's called good design.
