Connected Drive, or lack of!
Hi all, I have searched for this issue but nothing. I picked up my M40i yesterday and drive from Hungerford to the North West to see family. Love the car great journey etc, but. The connect drive just does not work, I down loaded the app, entered details and the app recognises the car, but nothing updating. Look at the app on the phone and says car is still in Hungerford last update Dec 4th at 11:11am. I looked at the app in the car and when I click the app it just says no journeys planned and won't let me do anything else.

Started with nothing, still got most of it left.

Just a wee point, is your phone settings ok. Mine works no problem at all and my settings on the phone low the app always.

You need to make sure your ESA file was made correctly and fully enabled at your dealer from day 1. I had connected drive issues with my vehicle. Couldn't send message from app to vehicle. Turns out they didn't complete my ESA file. Got that figured out and it worked perfectly for a week or two. Then stopped working in the app. Went back in and they said your VIN is associated with another email and customer.... once they changed it back to me again it finally worked.

FYI.. "Connected BMW" mine quit 2 weeks ago.. Shows my car at an old location plus lock/unlock quit working 😡 I disconnected the negative side of the x3 battery for 30 mins. And now all is working in the app, location. Lock/unlock etc. Also didn't lose my car settings radio etc.

Picked up our new x3 on Wednesday afternoon and was able to setup connected drive within a few hours - I set it up via the website first, linked the car, then verified all our services were listed and had no issues with the app, adding secondary users, etc.
When I registered I also got an email that had the vehicle recovery cert, the LTE compensator docs, etc. It did take a day or two for everything on the connected drive website to look 100% correct with subscriptions, etc, but they were at least all listed on day 1 Definitely sounds like some dealers aren't doing their side of things correctly |

My connected drive app didn't really work until I took my car in for the recent recalls. After they updated the software, it finally started working like it's supposed to. I can 3d view, see it on the map, lock the door, etc., which i wasn't able to do either.

I just left the dealer and they don't have any idea why my app hasn't updated since Dec 7th. The Genius person said they would put in a ticket with the connected drive team.

Well after a week of ownership, and 3 visits to the dealers, I decided to delete the app. It got to a stage where my phone was getting so hot and draining the battery I have given up. Shame but tbh i don't really need the app, but I would like to think spending this sort of money out it should work.
