Panaramic sunroof seal replacement.
Just thought I would share that I have replaced the rear seal on the opener of the panoramic sunroof today. It had shrunk over time and this left an 8-10mm open gap each side of the panel.
It's really easy to change and isn't bonded on, the profile of the rubber just fits into the plastic molding of the glass panel, it took about 10 minutes to change with a set or steps to get up there. Part no. Of the rubber is 54107493155 and it's slightly over sized so you just have to trim it down. I didn't take any pics before but have a couple of it fitted. |

I have seen other posts where this was cited as a source of wind noise. BMW will replace under warranty if the car is still covered

Mine didn't give me any wind noise or whistle but I was concerned about the extra water ingress when it rained or the car was washed.
The gaps on mine were similar if not slightly bigger than the ones on kevinkays car. The thread might be useful to a few people. |

Indeed a great document. I love it when a company has rigid process. This caught my eye:
An extra screw may have fallen into the track during production. The screw is not missing from any location. -- So they have enough "loose screws" on production that it makes it into an advisory :-| |

Just had mine replaced at the dealer - under warrantee.
Drove in and showed the service adviser the gap, she made me a service appointment. unfortunately they did not pre-order the part so took 2 days to get the new seal once the tech looked it over. I watched the tech put it on - took about 20 min and tech was using a mirror (like a dental mirror) and maybe a screwdriver. Looked like he was verifying it was properly attaching with the mirror. |

Mine was replaced under warrantee because I asked with the knowledge of this post - THANKS
I also asked it be "adjusted" as I thought the center of the movable glass was a bit higher in the center where it met with the back glass. The service adviser didn't really agree with me but the tech did. They tried to adjust but at max. adjustment they could not get it flush, determined the back glass was "defective" and so replaced the rear glass panel. Took a week, but I had a loner and always happy to get new parts! |

Thank you all
Huge thank you to all on this thread!!!
Picked up a 2018 X3 just before Christmas and the wind noise in the cabin was driving me mad in high winds or motorway driving. Ordered the part mentioned above for €45 from main dealer (it’s now been superseded with part no. B54.10.5.B32.973). Only took a few minutes to push/clip the new seal into place (with the help of a flat head screw driver). Did require about 5-7mm to be trimmed off. I made sure it was about 3-4mm too long to allow for some future shrinkage and squeezed it in. Problem solved, cabin is lovely and quiet now |

Thanks for reposting this! I just started to hear some noise from the sunroof, it’s worse driving into the wind. Even though it’s a MY23, I’m going to have it checked out at my next service appt.

I’ve been through hurricanes that make less wind noise than my sunroof right now. It’s shrunk about a half inch so I scrunched it over to one side and have a piece of painters tape covering the hole. It’s working for now until my next service appointment but ugly as anything.

Had mine checked during recent service, and it had shrunk a little both sides, MY2022, dealer ordered and replaced, picked up this morning and had a couple of hours drive. The cabin is quiet, but just had a little whistling now and again at motorway speeds which was the reason I had them check, can confirm nice and quiet again now.
