This. With comfort access, you don't need to unlock the car to open the tailgate. It was the same way with my F25.

hi guys i dont know if i research clear enough, i swear to god the 2020 x3m40i i test drove had a exhaust on/off button, meaning performance exhaust is option added, right? i am up to reconsider a 2023 now again, but i dont see performance exhaust upgrade as an option anymore, was it removed, no longer provided or it became standard?

It's not available through the configurator when you build the car and I didn't see it as a dealer option? Weak

Might need to go aftermarket.

Just got my 2020 certified preowned x3m40i. I noticed that when I change the volume for the radio or whatever, there's no visual indicator (numbers or volume bar or etc). that shows up.

Is there some way to enable this? First BMW so not sure if this is a "feature" or something is disabled.

Also, I was told that all 2020 x3's have AEB. We also have a 2020 outback and the automatic braking is pretty on point with the eyesight system. I'm assuming the x3 uses the proximity sensors? I have not had it even activate once. Should I take it back to the dealer to get checked out?

The M40i never had any factory exhaust option/upgrade (or exhaust button). Perhaps you also test drove an X3M at some point?

It's also well known that the 2022+ are quieter than the earlier models.

Apologies if this is not aligned with the intent of the exchange:
My experience has been - in my 2009 BMW and other newer vehicles - that the Range is determined by your most recent few miles traveled. E.g. if you're hauling a$$ uphill vs. coasting downhill for some duration, your Range will decline/increase accordingly and periodically. You can normally see this happen real-time as you're driving.

Cheers~

I'm pretty sure you should have a bar to show your volume on your idrive screen . I have a 2018 and the only way to remove it would be with BimmerCode, Carly or some other coding . It was probably coded out by the previous owner, some like to code the volume bar off . I'm not sure about the auto brake system as like I said I have a 2018 and don't have that option.

Hm... I may head over to the dealership and see what they can do about that volume. Maybe be like hey it's a certified pre-owned. Maybe they can re-enable it. If not, guess i'll have to buy BimmerCode or something.

My 2022 shows no volume indicator. Pretty sure it was designed that way.

I believe that all X3s have emergency braking up to approx 50mph. If you have the Driving Assistant Pro package, you get emergency braking up to something like 155mph. It's described in the manual.

From what I have read on here, the M40i already has the "M-sport exhaust". There is no exhaust option in the configurator. You may be thinking about the option in the iDrive to tune the exhaust. There used to be an option to make the exhaust "sporty", which would open the valve to make it sound louder. The options look a little different in the 2022+. And, as was mentioned, the exhaust in general has been tuned differently over the years.

My 22 LCI has a horizontal bar volume indicator in the lower part of the touch display. The higher the volume the further the blue progresses to the right of the bar. I notice it when adjusting volume using gesture control.

Crap, you're right. Mine does too. I think I was thinking about the "number". There is no number shown. Just the little graph.

I might be wrong on this but wasn’t this just to change the audio being fed into the cabin? I have set mine to to “Reduced” because I want to hear the real engine sound not the audio feedback roar. Have I now shut the valves thus making the exhaust notes quieter?

Does anyone know if any company sells just the front black m performance floor mats? I am referring to the cool ones with the little M flag on the side.

I think so, yes. I believe that setting it to “reduced” controls both the ASD and the actual exhaust valve. freshxdough can you confirm?

On 2020 with "engine sound" settings you can control the ASD and the engine sound further. This will affect engine pops and burbles and the exhaust valve as well as ASD inside the vehicle.

That's what I was saying . I know I can code out the graph bar with BimmerCode on my 2018 .

like this video on a 2020, it has a physical button to open/close the flap. Unless the open/close button has been moved virtually to settings rather than a physical button, i don't see any button on the 2022 i have seen in the showrooms.

From my understanding, there is a setting in the iDrive for 2022+. If you set engine sound (under Car > Settings > General) to "Depending on driving mode" then in Comfort the engine and exhaust sounds are somewhat quiet. But, if you switch to Sport or Sport Plus, the valve opens up and the engine and exhaust sounds are louder.

Setting it to "Reduced" makes it quiet in all modes. I do not know what "Balanced" does.

I have the exhaust valve fuse pulled so my exhaust is always a little louder. But, I can tell you that when I'm in the Sport modes, I get the pops and burbles while in Comfort I do not.

I think this is just changing between driving modes (Eco Pro/Comfort/Sport). No physical exhaust button, suby01 can confirm.

In the iDrive menus under Engine Sound in the 2022+ there's Balanced, Reduced, and Depending on Driving mode options. If you choose depending on driving mode, you can hear the exhaust flap opening and closing when you switch between Comfort and Sport mode. I understand that before 2022, there was also a "Sporty" option... I imagine this just kept the flap open regardless of the driving mode.

Question regarding a 2020 x3 M40i: I have searched the iDrive menu and the owners' manual without finding an answer to my question.

Can I create a default setting for driving mode? As an example, can I set the car to always start in Eco instead of the factory default of starting in Comfort?

Not via iDrive. Need something like Bimmercode to do that.
