X3 fuel door falls off

3rd time now while going thru the car wash, the door slides off, also came off once while drying the car in this area after the wash. Seems very easy to simply slide the door off while pushing the door towards the back end of the car. I see some post on this, but I would think it would be much more wide spread and potentially there's a fix out there. A real PITA

Yea, I know - don't go thru the car wash. No thanks.

Did you luck the doors? If the doors are locked, the fuel door should also be well-locked.

I hope the fuel thieves don't find out about the door sliding off.

The only time our fuel door came off was a bizarre incident that occurred when our X3 was about a week old. We were leaving a parking garage and all of the sudden two guys came running out between the lanes of cars, one chasing the other. The first one tried to jump between our car and the one next to us, pushing himself up off ours with his hand on the filler door. As he did it the door came off. Fortunately traffic was at a stand still so I was able to retrieve the door and put it back on when we got home.

It has not ever come off again. [And I don't know what happened to the guys]

Saw this young guy pumping gas on an X3 in Costco the other day with his mom in the driver's side. The door fell off after pumping and didn't know what to do. Couldn't get it slide back in. And he just left it alone and they departed.
