X3M Comp LCI Different Stock Center/Mid Pipe Configurations?
Both a friend of mine and I have the facelifted X3M comp, and we're both loving it.
Recently, he has gone ahead and installed a capristo exhaust (a mid and tail pipe system). It sounded amazing, so now I'm also looking at exhaust options. However, I did notice that compared to his, the center-pipe section of mine connects differently to the downpipe. Mine (right pic) splits and connects to the downpipes on the left and right sides, while my friend's (left pic) center-pipes both feed in on the right. I suppose there's no functional difference, just a different configuration when being built in factories? I'm shopping for an exhaust system, so wanted to check to see if anyone is knowledgeable about this. Would that mean I can only install certain systems that support this center pipe configuration? |

This thread might help clarify things a touch more. From what little I know most of not all the LHD cars here in the United States have the mid-pipe of the exhaust section routed on the RHD of the car. BU the chassis can easily be adapted depending on which market it's being sold in. In the EU their emission standards dictate the OPF filters higher up / closer to the primary cats. Hope this helps a little bit.

Thanks for that! Yeah seems like the pics in the thread are also routed to the right side.
My car is manufactured in the US as well, and then imported to over here. My friend took delivery just a couple months ahead of me, curious difference Guess it's just gonna be a question I ask the exhaust dealers directly! |

I thought the same thing. One of those photos looks like a G80 M3 midpipe. But it's a F97 X3 M chassis.
