i have actually driven it and i must say it is a very nice vehicle and it drives thru the snow and ice with ease. the restyle is a big step forward IMO and the interior is farily nice epecially since they added the extra trim on the dash.

They are nice cars but I would honestly get the new X5 instead if money isn't a factor.

We just got a 2007 X3 with premium, sports, navi. Its a great improvement from previous years' model, we loved it so so much. One thing that surprised me is that the ride on X3 is very very harsh, bumpy, and sensitive to road conditions. Compared the X3 sports pack with my E90 330i with H&R sports springs, X3's ride quality is a lot harsh than my E90. But, the X3 handles just like a sports car, and the power is great too. Another thing about this X3 is that the technology used on this car is still in the same generation of E46, unlike E90's system. but overall, its a great car, we love it as much as the E90. If I have to choose again, I will still get this car.

my dad has a 545i and when ever he get a loaner he gets an x3. i know its not the new, new one but, he did say it was a nice drive. he liked the drive but not the looks. my fam will be getting the new x5. some article i have read about the x3 say that its like a raised 3 series for the off road. its great for a small suv if you dont mind or even like the styling.

i got a courtesy car X3 3.0i a while back while i still had a e46 330i and it was in the shop.
i must say i was extremely surprised at how well it handled. and it def wasnt as slow as I was expecting it to be. My parents have a X5 4.4i and while the X3 is def a lot slower, I found that it handled a lot better than the X5, it was more similar in handling to my 330i than to the X5. so all in all, its not too slow and handles amazingly for a SUV, and since theres a 3.0si out now, im sure its faster too. however, I still can't get over its looks. personally, imho, I think it looks like someone took a sledgehammer and a ugly stick to a X5. so personally, I would buy a relatively stock X5 3.0i, which should only be slightly more than the top of the line X3. |

I own one, its a fun car. I have had it for 1.5 years and will absolutely when i sell it for the e92-335. Don't get the sports suspension unless you want a really stiff ride(you'll fell everything on the road). The standard suspensions already stiff, ive noticed that my mini suv isn't like others it can take corners so thats the main reason i am in with my X3-3.0L. I don't see why you would hesitate to buy this perfect allround car. It would be perfect for the snow, i've only used it once in the snow with snow tyres and its impressive. I suggest you buy it

Big reason why we went with an Acura MDX was because the X3 was just waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy to harsh/bumpy. And the model we test drove was not equipped with the sport pack.
But yes, for a small SUV, it handled like a car

what's so "risky" about driving your car in the winter? Do you store it away or something? E90 is 4-door small sedan........it is made to be driven in the snow. |

I guess I don't get your logic..............you'd rather buy a new vehicle than spend $1000 on snow tires???? Yes, the E90 WAS made to be driven in snow....why do you think they are equipped with so much technology (DTC)? It's not a "sports car" and is by no means a "high performance" vehicle, so that's why I don't get the whole "risking" your car thing. If you said you have a 360 Modena then this would all make sense. You remind me a of a kid I know who stores his Civic SI for the winter because he doesn't want to expose his "sports car" to the elements. Good luck with your decision |

haha...i'm sorry you don't get my logic, probably cuz i'm chinese...but if u DO understand, i doubt i'll remind you of that civic kid..... anyways, i guess i have the money to get a x3? that's why i'm spending more instead of 1000 bucks.... i just like to try out more things, see how the x3 performs, and have that SUV feeling in snow....and i mean.....the x3 isn't just for winter, it can be another car i can enjoy in other seasons....so i'm not really WASTING that 50K or whatever it's worth.... also, i didn't say my E90 isn't MADE to be driven in snow....i'm just saying with my performance tires, it's very RISKY....and i have never mentioned that i am getting winter tires, so i have no idea why you think driving in snow with "MY" E90 would be a smart move..... |

I dont get your logic either. If you get an X3 and don't get winter tires it will drive no different then your E90 in the snow. I'm asian too, and I get most Asian people think just because it's 4x4 its better in the snow (not realizing that tires are more importantat then 4x4), then they do something stupid like get an SUV and put all seasons on it.
But if you absolutely need a 2nd car for winter. I would get a E92, then use the E90+ winter tires as a winter car. As an Asian I would never buy a american build BMW X3/X5 its just a no no for asians.

You will still need winter tires for the X3. Don't kid yourself into thinking that you won't just because it is AWD and is a bit higher than your current car.
If anything, trade the current car on a XDrive E90, get some winter wheels/tires, and be done with it. No matter what you buy for winter, you will still need winter tires. My next vehicle with probably be a E91 because I don't really need and SUV, it will be better on fuel, and still handles great. The problem is that CPO 3 series wagons are much harder to come by than CPO X3. |
