Looking into purchasing a 21’ X4MC.

The dealer cannot CPO the vehicle, stating that the break-in service was performed beyond the required 1,200 mile (CarFax indicates 1,328 miles).

Test drove the vehicle and discovered the I-Drive controller buttons were sticking and not working, there appeared to be signs of soda spills on the side of the center console.

The passenger side DRL is also showing signs of failure as they were dim in comparison to the driver side headlamp.

Given these two issues on a low mileage vehicle (12K) would you be concerned without the CPO certification?

The dealership indicated they would repair both of these issues prior to sale.

Me also... pass.
If they were serious, they would have fixed both issues before listing it, and also CPO'd the car.

They are asking $62,888 and are willing to discount by $2,000.

Disappointing to see leased vehicles of this caliber, returned in such poor condition, despite the low mileage.

They are feeding you a load of ____ regarding the first service disqualifying the car for CPO. Point out the CPO'd 2021 X4M COMP at Pacific BMW. It had it's first service at over 1,500 miles.

Sounds like they are just being lazy.
I looked this X4MC up on CarGurus, and based on the VIN it's still under warranty for about another year....
It was a 3/8/21 build date, so you have some factory coverage
Awesome color combo also!

But, they do need to fix it, and clean the spill residue off the center console and maybe the mats, to your satisfaction.
Their price is high too, so they also need to give you the $2k discount to make it work.
If they won't then I'd walk.

Great point, and I’m going to bring this to their attention.

Price is too high IMO with all those imperfections....and the CPO nonsense...is nonsense. Almost all BMW's sold after leases have more than 1,200 miles (past break-in) that makes no sense. Ask them to really drop that price considering a used car loan interest rate is extremely high nationwide. They should work with you.

Break in period is a range between 1200-1500 miles on these and not a hard limit of 1200.

I would pass as well if they are not willing to fix the issues and adjust the price to market price.

Some dealers are like slumlords. They don’t want to spend a dime on the lease return to maximize profit.
