All-Season Tire Suggestions '22 G01 21" Wheels

Hi All!

I currently have a '22 X3M40i with the 21" RFT wheel option. As you all probably know, the stock tire sizes are 245/35/21 for the fronts and 275/35/21 for the rears. They originally came with some Bridgestone Alenza 001 tires which are horrible imo. I have a set of Pirelli Sottozero 3 in the OE specs that I used last winter and am ready to put them on again for this winter.

I was thinking of going with non-RFT all-seasons once these two sets of tires are shot. With this size of tire, all season options are very limited and wanted to know if going up by 5 sidewall will cause any issues. I found some Michelin Pilot Sport AS4's in 245/45/21 and 275/40/21. Would these be safe to use?

Totally safe and works great! Just went with the same set up on my M40i, but Crossclimate2. Here's the post: https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=29579146

Yes - lots of posts on this… just Google search it (I find Google works better than the forum search).

I just ordered an X3 M40i yesterday with the 1VP tire/wheel package. This includes the 699M black wheels with High Performance Non-RFT tires since I didn't want RFT. I would assume they are summer tires and not all-season. Does anyone know what tires these may be?

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 AS should be fine for you too.

I also live in MD and I'm a fan of the Conti Extreme Contact. I've had them on both of my X3 M40i's. I run these all year long on my 20" rims, no need for snow tires (I don't drive in deep snow). Great tire and they wear well.

Anyone know if the tire clearance is the same for the X4 as the X3? Planning on increasing the sidewall to 45 front and 40 rear. Thanks.

Should be identical, based on wheelbase, track width, and ride height.

Thanks. Didn't want snow tires so this looks like a good replacement. Would have to try and sell the Pirellis that come on the car. Have lots of time to research, build probably won't be done until February.

I got my X3 in February 2021. In February and March we had hardly any snow. I was careful not to drive if there was any snow or ice on the roads, and I was able to keep the Alenza summer tires on and got about 10K miles out of them before I had to put the Conti A/S on in December.

Love them. Grip is unmatched in snow/ice. Smooth ride when dry and confident stopping. Sidewall and tread pattern look great aesthetically too. Highly recommend.

How much room between top of tire and bottom of coil? You can look at it with a flashlight and estimate.
